Comparison of Ancillary By analysing many other Digipaks I quickly came to the conclusion that conventional Digipaks often have the artists face at the front of the album cover (the face most of the time is a close up of the artist), and the artists name in big bold font at the top, with the album name in smaller font usually at the bottom of the cover. So going by this convention I chose to put a close up of my chosen artists face at the front of the cover (ZED) and the artists name in bold large capitalised font. Previous examples of rap album covers Rick ross:god forgives 2pac: all eyez on me Skepta: doin it again Lowkey:uncensored Tyler the creator: wolf Drake: thank me later Lil wayne: tha carter 4

Back of My album Artwork: A$AP ROCKY album artwork

Skepta album artworkHere I have analysed how two different album (both rap albums which is my chosen genre) covers apply text and how they make it stand out. What I noticed was they both used contrasting colours for the text to stand out i.e. white bold capitalised text on top of a black strip(rectangle shape) so I applied this to my own digipak and carried the convention throughout.

similaritiesBoth album covers have grey, colorless monotonous colours, this look is made more significant by the grey sky and dim filter applied this adds to conventions of the grime genre as grime is serious, dark and explicitly grim.

Both album covers incorprate buildings in the backrground which may indicate the overview of what the album is about, plus it adds a nice use of photography encouraging consumers to give the album a deeper look

Advert comparisonArtists names are in bold when it comes to advertising for clarity of who's album is about to be released

A picture of the actual album is usually incorporated to also show what the album will look like so consumers can buy it

This is an important indication of where the album can be purchased(which is why the album goes on sale in the first place

Both adverts have information regarding the album in white text ontop of a black strip, this feature was carried throughout my ancillary project to create synergy and consistency

A large part of the advert is dedicated to the artist name in order to advertise who the album is by
