Personal Background

• Coco and her family were very poor and lived in poverty while growing up

Key Historical Events

• World War 1 was going on • Since war was going on the Nazis shut down many

industries like the fashion industry for quite some time

• Really got her career going and soon after opened a hat store and then sold clothes couple years later

Influence of the Art World• Inspired by the nuns that took care of her and how they helped her

with learning to sew• Also a Jean Antoine Watteau Painting later inspired her to rework

the costume into a woman's suit • Chanles influence on the art world shows through her personal

style and she really got the fashion world going and made it diverse by having americans and other countried wear her clothes

• Chanel’s influence on the art world is big and it continues today to inspire. All of her techniques are used in clothes today including her line, but just a little more modern style then her traditional classy style.

Conclusion• Overall, Chanel was a very talented, unique,

traditional artist that had lots of traits that showed in her clothes. Her clothes even today continue to show her own personal style and she is someone that inspires and will inspire many others for years to come. All of her techniques are used in clothes today including her line, but just a little more modern style then her traditional classy style. She inspires me because she came from a poor background and learned her trade and became a world class designer.
