Post-1982:(S.A.)3yearswithIBMSA–introducedtothePCandcomputergraphics.FollowedbyfreelanceartworkforayearortwoandeventuallyareturntotheformalworksectorwithInceDeskset,whereIwastrainedonApplecomputersystemsandsoftware.After10monthswithInceItrainedandworkedwithadesignerinasmallprintcompanyforafewmonthsandthenspentacoupleofyearswiththeSouthAfricanInstituteofMiningandMetallurgyworkingontheirmonthlypublication.

IsubsequentlyjoinedStandardBank’sin-houseAdvertisingStudio whereIhavebeenemployedasagraphicdesignerforthelast 17years.Inaddition,ImanagedtheAppleMaccomputersystemwhicheventuallycomprised±25MaccomputersplusserverontheStudionetwork.Thisinvolvedhardwareandsoftwarebudgetingplusday-to-daysupervisionandsystemsupportfor15designers.

Designexperiencehasbeenbroad;coveringawiderangeofprint;frombooks,brochuresandflyerstobillboards,fromtrainingguidestoexhibitionstandsandpromotionalitems.IhavebeeninvolvedwiththeconceptanddesignofmaterialfornumerousfunctionsandeventsandIdesignedandimplementedStandardBank’scurrentinternalstafflookandfeel,amongstothercorporatedesignwork.

Themajorityofthebank’sbelow-the-lineprintdesignwashandledintheStudio,aswellasoutputofabove-the-lineadcampaignsoriginatedbyTBWAHuntLascaris,soIhavealsobeeninvolvedwithplentyofadvertisingdesign.

2010:Commencementofdesignbusiness:“OutoftheCage”.

InadditiontographicdesignIenjoyfineart,specialisinginanimalportraitureinwatercolours,oils,pastelsandothermedia,mostcrafts,infactanythingcreative.Iammadaboutanimals;IownandshowBoxerdogsandama memberofthelocalBoxerClubcommittee,producingtheirnewsletters, schedulesandotherpromotionalmaterial. Ihavehadalifelongobsessionwiththenaturalworldaroundmeandam fascinatedbynatureandwildlife,whereIfindendlessinspirationforallmycreative endeavours. Iwouldlovetobeinvolvedsomehowwithwildliferescueandrehabilitationoneday...adreamforthefuture!
