The Gruffalo has a very distinct style, the pictures (painted by Axel Scheffler) are clear full of life. The Gruffalo’s illustrations have been hand painted and are full of colour, these bright visuals could attract the children’s attention and keep them interested. On each page there is a small paragraph of text, but the wording is simplistic (usually a parent would read this to the child). The font used is easy to read and serif. There are 32 pages in the Gruffalo, this means it doesn’t take too long to read the book which can lose the child’s interest. The page size is 0.3 x 21 x 26 cm, this is a perfect size because it means the pictures are larger. The author is Julia Donaldson the illustrator Axel Scheffler and the publisher Macmillan Children's Books.

The Gruffalo
