Total Absorbtion Area = 1.8153 + 2.7 + 0.4241 + 2.64 + 4.8 + 0.6 + 1.84 + 33.575 + 1.629 = 50.02
Volume of Space = 242.04 m3
Reverberation Time = 0.16 x Volume Total Sa

Standard Table requires a Music Room/Workshop to have a reverberation time of 1.5/s for a clear and crisps sound quality for music recording or jamming.
2.2 External Noise Sound Level Pressure (SPL)Traffic Noise of H.S. Lee Road: 76dB Opposite Trading Activities Noise: 70dB
76 = 10 log ll
1 x 10
Antilog 7.6 = ___ll___ 1 x 10
ll = (3.981 x 10 ) x (1 x 10 ) = 3.918 x 10
70 = 10 log ll
1 x 10
Antilog 7 = ___ll___ 1 x 10
ll = (1 x 10 ) x (1 x 10 ) = 1 x 10
Total Intensities = (3.981 x 10 ) + (1 x 10 ) = 4.981 x 10
Combined SPL = 10 log 4.981 x 10 1 x 10 = 10 x 8.607 = 77dB
Total Intensities = (3.981 x 10 ) + (1 x 10 ) = 4.981 x 10
Combined SPL = 10 log 4.981 x 10 1 x 10 = 10 x 8.607 = 77dB
Calculation above shows the external noise sound pressure level (SPL) of both traffic and trading noise around the site on Jalan Tun H.S. Lee.

2.3 Sound Reduction Index (SRI)
2.3.1 Music Workshop ( Internal Noise Source) to Outdoor WalkwayBased on the table above, average sound pressure level produced for a Music Workshop/Room is 90 db which considered as internal noise source to the Outdoor Walkway.
The East Wall of the Workshop consist of 5.2 m(square) of Concrete Wall(SRI=42dB) and 15.66 m(square) of glass wall (SRI=26dB)
SRI = 10 log 1 T
TL For Concrete Wall TL for Glass Wall
42 = 10 log 1 T
Antilog 4.2 = 1 T
T = ____1___ 1.585 x 10
T = 6.310 x 10
26 = 10 log 1 T
Antilog 2.6 = 1 T
T = ____1___ 3.98 x 10
T = 2.512 x 10
T overall = (5.2 x 6.309 x 10 ) + ( 15.66 x 2.512 x 10 ) 5.2 + 15.66
= 1.902 x 10
SRI overall = 10 log 10 1 ___ 1.902 x 10
= 10 log 10 525.89
= 27.2 dB
Total noise level transmitted to Outdoor Walkway: 90db - 27.2dB = 63dB
The wall made out of material of glass and concrete reduces 27.2dB of noise to the walkway. 63dB is similar to a busy road and could disturb people using the walkway. Howover, the walkway is only used as a circulation space and surely users would not mind the noise.
