Rube Goldberg

FamilyRueben Lucius Garret Goldberg was born on the fourth of July 1883 and was one of seven children but
unfortunately three of his siblings died as children. His parents were called Max and Hannah Goldberg. On October 1916 Rube Goldberg married Irma Seeman, they had two sons called Thomas and George. During
world war two George and Thomas changed their last names on Rubes insistence because of the hatred towards his political natured cartoons. Rube Goldberg died in 1970 at the age of 87 and his wife died in 1990
at the age of 95.

School Rube Goldberg went to the school Lowell High School until he graduated in 1900. As a child Rube knew he wanted to be an artist but his father didn’t agree, he said the he didn’t want Rube to be a “struggling artist”. Eventually Rube was allowed to take art lessons when he was 11 .Rube’s father always wanted him to be an
engineer so following his fathers wish Rube attended the University of California at Berkley to study engineering.

Career Like Da Vinci, Rube studied engineering and got a job as an engineer for the San Francisco Water and Sewers Department, but after six months Rube got a new job as an office boy in the sports department of a San Francisco newspaper. He’d submit some of his cartoons to the editor where they would eventually get published.
Rube became best known for his inventions and how he took simple tasks like using an umbrella and making it extremely complicated. Rube Goldberg will always be remembered for his cartoons and the Rube Goldberg machine.

In Conclusion… Rube Goldberg was a great artist and even though he didn’t build his
inventions that he drew Rube still inspires many people including scientists and engineers.
