- Reinvention, automation, obsolescence and job hopping.
- The quantified self, data generation and personalisation.

Future People Global- Growing middle class, digital growth steep.
- The unconnected 60%, 1.4b without electricity.
- Differing attitudes towards privacy.
- Tech spreading does not guarantee political opening.
- Large disruption: fragmentation, migration, crisï.
- Nostalgism: 85% of Turks, 60% of Britons think it used to be better. Only China believes (out of 20 IPSOS MORI countries)

Future Global News Trends- The Changing of Women, more women graduate than men
but stay behind in the labour force.
- Authenticity as much as authority, impartiality and accuracy.
- Strong polarisation in media might require redefining news.
- Global stories and local ones that touch globally.
- Business News in challenging places is not done much.
- Governance: Where lies the real power. Grey cardinals and tech.

What does it mean for BBC News- Local news, journalism where you live and work.
- Creating Humanist understanding globally.
- Many responses, one size does not fit all.
- Audiences in need, North Korea; Russia; Turkey.
- Report the unreported.
- We can’t compete with some competitors financially.
- Control over distribution is becoming more difficult.
- Conflict reporting becomes more difficult, with drones and social media.

How will we find and tell stories- We will find stories more from the Audience and data.
- Move away from the article.
- Short and long form content.
- WDIAM (What does it all mean.)
- Creating more personal relevancy.
- Different tone, more open.
- More but better interactive.
- Stand alone news brands for other audiences.
- Automation.

impartiality, diversity of opinion, fair treatment of people in the news and public service.
- Quality not quantity.
- Openness.
- Universality: not the voice of god.
- Independence.
