The benchmark Karrier panel is a unique insulated panel that has been specifically designed and tested to support benchmark’s ranges of façades.it can be laid vertically and horizontally, with or without a tophat section to suite the benchmark façade. The benchmark façade pages to follow will specify the recommended build options from Kingspan benchmark.

The system provides excellent weather resistance, thermal, acoustic, fire and structural performance. The benchmark Karrier panel is a metal faced insulated panel that makes the building watertight, removing the façade off the critical path and enabling internal fit out to start sooner.

All of the above u-values are calculated in compliance with building Regulations Approved Documents L2A & L2b (England & Wales), Technical Handbooks Domestic and non-Domestic Sections 6 (Scotland), part F2 (northern ireland) and part L (Republic of ireland - based on the Overall Heat Loss Method).

The u-values reflected above take the whole build into consideration. For the purpose of these calculations, the Kingspan Multibeam purlin and rail system was used in conjunction with a standard 12.5mm gypsum wall board, with a lambda value of 0.19 W/mK).

Material Description

Wood Composite façades have a thermosetting phenolic resin bonded cellulose fibre core. This is faced with natural wood that has been coated with a proprietary acrylic resin - pVDF uV protective finish.

natural Wood

The natural wood is typically Ayous or Okume and comes from a sustainable source.

anti Graffiti

Specifically designed to resist chemical attack (anti graffiti), the Wood Composite façade is bM Trada Q Marked (Cert CE/F04151).

product Tolerance

Thickness, length and width, edge straightness and squareness are all in accordance with bS En 438 (High-pressure decorative laminates (HpL) Sheets based on thermosetting resins (usually called Laminates) part 2: Determination of properties).

aluminium Secondary rail System

The extruded aluminium secondary rail system is tested to bS 1474: 1987 (Specification for wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys for general engineering purposes) in 6063/T6 grade alloy.

attachment

The extruded aluminium straps tested to bS 1474 in 6063/T6 grade alloy are secured to the Wood Composite façade panel using undercut stainless steel expanding anchors. Straps are secured to the aluminium secondary rail system using self drilling / self tapping stainless steel coated black screws.

Fire

The Wood Composite façade panels have a Class 3 fire rating to bS476 - 6: 1989 (Fire propagation for products) and bS476 - 7: 1997 (Surface spread of flame of products). Class 1 fire rating to bS476 - 6:1989 and bS476 - 7: 1997 are available which are Class 0 as defined by building Regulations and have a European fire classification of b-s2, d0.

Colours

please refer to page 52 to see the range.

The Wood Composite façade is a high pressure laminate cladding manufactured with a real wood veneer which exhibits all the natural variation, warmth and beauty of real wood.

The panels are coated with a proprietary coating, based in synthetic resins and pVDF, which protect the panel from the effects of sunlight, chemical attack (anti-graffiti) and the damage caused by atmospheric agents.

A smooth concealed fixing system can be used, and a through fix option also available to create the desired look.
