A) There is something satisfying about repeated design and every culture has evolved different ways of making patterns.
B) At the end of the last century, pattern was very popular. Victorians loved pattern: Examples: The House of Parliament and the Palace of Westminster

C ) In the past, the more patterns there were in your house, the richer you were.D) Pattern is usually the first thing we see when we enter a room.E) The eye is always seeking out stimulation. Patterns act as eye magnets for your mind to explore or to get interest from it. F) Science proves that we need a certain level of visualstimulation at a very young age.
G) Babies are always interested in busy patternsH) The brain needs
stimulation in order to develop and a certain degree of patterning on the wall paper is a good idea to develop the visual part of the brain.
I) Do not use grids because they will emphasize how low the ceiling is and how short the wall is
J) Wall paper has the ability to cover dodgy proportions. Getting the scale and proportion right means you no longer see your low ceiling or your short wall.
K) Three Types of Patterns 1) Florid-flowery, showy 2) Geometric 3) Naturalistic L) Wallpapers camouflage imperfection on the wall

2) GEOMETRIC: Repeated patterns of lines, circles, triangles, ellipses, rectangles

TEXTURE: It can communicate luxury or simplicity
Texture can be rough, smooth, natural, silky, glossy, luxurious and refinedTouch is the most important sense, it needs light
DISPLAY1) There should be symmetry

Displays should be in threes or fives (odd numbers)

Put small displays in a shelf with others that seem to harmonize with them
