UX issue in Apple FinderAdding a new Folder

One way to add a new folder is via the menu File> New Folder.

The other way is right clicking in the vacant space below/between the files/folders. This shows the thumbnail view. This image shows right click below the file/folder area.

This image shows right click between the thumbnails. Anywhere in the white space between the icons works for this.

This is the second way of displaying files, with more details. If there is cacant space beneath the files right click works and shows the New Folder option.

Here comes the bug. If the files are too many then there is no vacant space at the bottom.

Any right click anywhere is taken as a right click on a file or folder. Because all space is taken up by rows, one row for each file/folder.

This same problem comes in the three pane view as well. As soon as there are too many files and no vacant space below, the New Folder by right click cannot happen.

A minor related issue is that the horizontal scroll, which is a transclucent one, comes over the file. Even though it allows right click on that last file. It breaks the flow somewhat.

Both these issues are solved by keeping some area vacant at the end of the page. The importance of whitespace has been known for quiet long. Here it gives a very tangible benefit as well.
