The colour gold portrays the idea of the product being worth a larger amount of money that it actually is and being high class.

The ‘handwritten’ font gives the target audience a feeling of being close to the brand, thus making it seem more trustworthy.

The products shown have been ‘photo shopped’ to look better than the actual products actually are, but it makes the buyers want it more. The golden shine to all the products makes the product seem expensive, so when the buyers purchase the product, they’ll feel they have a ‘bargain’.

Art Deco is a type of art, suggesting that the makeup is a professional piece of art that is valuable.

The promoter ‘Dita Von Teese’ is a well-known burlesque dancer. This gives the brand a provocative and sexual theme. This could make the target audience want to buy it to appeal to their partners.

The target audience is upper middle class women. We know this because the brand comes across as classy. Also, the woman shown is 41 , so middle aged women are more likely buy it because they could aspire to look like her.

The dress the model is wearing is seen as provocative; it suggests that she could expose herself any minute. Also, she seems upper class due to her dress being gold. Her makeup and the beauty spot connotes a ‘Georgian’, classic theme to the brand.

The products shown are presumably what the model shown is wearing. Her makeup/ the product is not everyday makeup, suggesting it’s specific, special makeup for special occasions such as going out for the night.

The expression on her face connotes a provocative nature and sexualises the product.

The colour green connotes nature, further suggesting that a ‘natural beauty’ look can be achieved with this makeup. Also, the connotations of nature could suggest that the product is natural, thus encouraging people to buy it.

Emma stone is used in this advertisement as an inspiration to the target audience. They would aspire to be like her because she is presented as naturally pretty and looks like she’s not wearing a lot of makeup. She has been airbrushed and photo edited to make her more appealing.

The use of persuasive adjectives such as “photoready” and “airbrush” makes the product more appealing because it makes it sound better than it actually is; for example, it says the product will have an “airbrushed” effect. This is shown by Emma Stone being airbrushed in the ad.

The font is white, which has connotations of purity. This would encourage the target audience to buy the product because it displays the ideology of having no nasty products that would be bad for skin.

Mentioning of the celebrity endorsement to make the public think she uses it. This will lead to thoughts that if a celebrity uses it, it must be good.

Bright colours are used to attract the audience’s attention so they will then look at the product and read about it.

“Revlon” is the biggest piece of font used as it is the brand name. It’s also one of the aspects that stands out the most because it is a well-known brand, and people would associate it with being successful.

Vibrant hair colour, further expands on the idea of individuality, as Emma Stone is quite unique.

Pink is stereotypically a female colour. The white text stands out against it. Also, the font of the text is a young, graffiti-like type of writing and further gives a personal feel to the product because of the hand-written aspect of the font.

The statistic at the bottom left of the video makes people feel that it has been tested and liked already. It also sounds professional, no matter what the figures actually are.

Close up of the model ‘wearing’ the mascara and making her lashes look long. However, she is also wearing other eye makeup, such a eye shadow and eyeliner to make her eyes look better, whereas if she was just wearing mascara it wouldn’t look as effective. It is comparing her eyelashes to wings which have connotations of angels. Also it gives the impression of mascara being “flared”.

The word ‘new’ is significant because it makes the product seem special. It then is a close up of the text on the product so you can see the name of it and it is also noticeable that the name is the biggest piece of text on the product. The overhead voice also says what is said on the mascara.

Another close up of the models eyes. This is a worm’s eye view in close up, which emphasises the curl and length of her eyelashes.

This shows the brush close up and also shows it’s stroke. Once again, the graffiti-like font is used. The mentioning that it is ‘spoon flare’ makes it seem different to all the other mascaras. Also, the brush matches the colour of the text.
