Components of a Ring Shank-The part of the Ring that fits around the finger is called Shank or the Band. Types of Shanks are Flat Band, Half Round, Knife edge Band & Concave band. Under Bezel-The part of the ring that rests on top of the finger and to which the shank and gallery are attached, some times an integral part of the shank to which the stone setting is joined.

Shoulder- A Term sometimes to refer to the upper portion of the Ring shank near the setting. Gallery- Strips of ornamental metal used in making bezels or setting for mountings.
