Public consultation experienceOrganising consultation events, workshops and exhibitions

On the Yarborough Estate and Chesterfield projects a series of workshops and exhibitions were needed to engage a despondent community and understand their needs in terms of housing, open space and access. For the community workshops for Yarborough I devised a series of study tours and interactive events to get all ages involved. This included visits to other developments, housing design workshops and kids play days. Chesterfield included a role playing game and multi media exhibition.

Hengqing Island Development FrameworkZhuhai special economic zone design competition1 of 5Joint lead urban designer. Scott Wilson 3 week contract

Hengqing Island lies in the west bank of Zhujiang river, near Hong Kong and Macao. With stunning landscape views through the valley out to sea, the Hengqing master plan aims to integrate Hengqing new area into the Zhuhai special economic zone and promote development of business services, recreational tourism, science and education research, and high-tech industries.

The total site area is 50.42sq.km (include water area in shore) and includes a new port authority head quarters, business quarter HQ, international community residential, university, sports campus, wetlands tourist park and relocation housing.

Myself and one other urban designer worked for Scot Wilson on a 3 week contract in Shanghai producing hand drawings of the master plan / vision and supervising the CAD technicians that then fed into the physical model. I worked very closely with a landscape architect so as to produce a sensitive response to an island that is currently undeveloped.
