Mohler Architects, P.C.’s repeat work with clients throughout the Midwest is possible due to the positive recommendations one client passes along to the next client. Over the last 40 years, our expertise in architectural projects has been founded on our ability to combine building program needs with architectural and interior design to produce a superior project. Most of our projects begin with our working with staff to prepare an architectural program of space needs/feasibility study/strategic facilities plan, based on the population, projected population, national library standards, local needs, funding sources and similar projects. Many of Mohler Architects’ projects have been in central and northwest Indiana. We regularly design many types of projects throughout the Midwest.

COMPANY PROFILE

Philosophy regarding collaboration with staff and open town meetings.

We see the process of Facilities Planning as a dynamic process involving the public, and stakeholders. While we enter into a contract with the Owner, we rely on the Project Director to give us direction, insight and feedback. We are very comfortable interviewing staff and other stakeholders. Afterward we share our notes with the Director and ask for the Director’s comments. We understand that facility decisions need to consider a 20, 50 or 100 year perspective; some staff do not have that perspective. We will rely on the Director to interpret staff input.

COMPANY PROFILE

Mohler Architects would like help the community sort through all of their building issues. We propose to investigate each issue; prioritize the importance of each issue/project and prepare a budget for the project (schematic design phase). Upon authorization, we will prepare design and construction documents for each project. (design development phase and construction document phase) Upon authorization, we will secure quotes or bids for the work (bid phase). We will inspect the construction to see that it conforms with the contract documents.

Mohler Architects will exceed your expectations. We will make the project successful for everyone involved. We will do this by listening to everyone, at the time which is appropriate for their input. We will analyze the information received. We will compare it with our experience and the experience of others. We will research engineering and regulatory issues as needed. We will develop concepts to be tested by the taxpayers, the public, the staff, the lawyers and accountants, and others in the construction industry. We will develop tools and media to communicate and visualize the concepts. We will test the design concepts with the public. If the design concept needs to be modified, we will modify it. If “Plan B” is needed, we will have it ready. When “everyone thinks it was their idea”, we will know we have the right concept. Then we will make a recommendation to the Board. We will provide cost estimates, schedules, visuals, and descriptions as needed. We will structure the schedule and phasing of the design work to the maximum benefit of the project. Harry Mohler will be the Architect of Record, Project Architect, and Project Manager for your project. He will be the contact between the Library and the Design Team. He will be with the project from the beginning, to the end. He will provide the continuity for the project. Literally hundreds, probably over a thousand, people will be involved in the project from now until the end of the warrantee period. Often the Architect and the Director are the only individuals who provide the continuity through the entire process. One of our jobs is to allow the Director to continue to do their job during this process. There are plenty of non-design, non-construction issues in this Process: new staff, moving the collection, communicating with the patrons and public. There is plenty of work to go around in this process, and we will pitch in wherever we can. We will make the Board and the staff look good, by making this a smooth process. We will prepare construction documents which clearly communicate to the bidders what work is to be done. We will assure that the bidding is competitive and fair. We will administer the contract so that the taxpayers and the library get what they are paying for. And best of all, we design beautiful, functional, flexible, energy efficient buildings. If you read the testimonial letters from our clients, you get a feel for how happy our clients and the public are with our library designs. We look forward to designing your library building, to reflect the character and dreams of your community. We hope to ask you to write a testimonial letter someday, soon. We Build Dreams... 3.05
