ABSTRACT
Social media sites provide a platform for discussion and instant massaging
which is vastly popular among student .This research is conducted to check
the effect of social media sites in our daily life. It is survey type of research
and data was collected through the questionnaire. 40 sampled AIUB
student fill the questionnaire, while non-random sampling techniques was
applied to select sample units. Rate of return was remaining 100 percent
after fill up the questionnaire. In this research 67.50% is undergraduate
student and 35.50 are postgraduate student . the rate of respond rate is
100 % . Social media is the source to get knowledge and information in this
question 87.50 % student support this .the main finding is social media
has mostly positive effect in our daily life.

Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
Now a day’s social media have become increasingly popular components of our
everyday lives and in globalizing society. They provide a context where people across
the world can communicate, exchange messages, share knowledge, and interact with
each other regardless of the distance that separates them. Intercultural adaptation
involves the process of promoting understanding through interaction to increase the
level of fitness so that the demands of a new cultural environment can be met.
Research will be trying to show that why people tend to use new social media to
become more integrated into the host culture during their adaptation and to maintain
connections to their home countries. This paper attempts to investigate the effect of
using new social media on the in our daily life. Survey questionnaire are provided to
AIUB students. Based on the results of Survey questionnaire the analysis, and
discussed as well .
1.2 objectives
The main objectives of this research is (1) To analyze the influence of social media on
effect in our life (2) To assess the beneficial and preferred form of social media for AIUB
student (3) To evaluate the attitude AIUB student towards social media and measure
the perspective about social media (4) To recommend some measure for student to
use of social media in right direction to inform and educate the student . To recommend
some measure for student use of social media in right direction to inform and educate
the student . Collected data was analyzed in term of frequency, percentage, and mean
score of statements. Now a days technology is going ahead very faster , we are very
much depend on information technology as well . now a day we can see a portion of
student is very much addicted on social media .

Chapter 22.1 Literature review Kanwal ( 2012) found that Face book and other sites can be very distracting for
students and can impact negatively on their learning, reports have proved that the
students who check their Face book or social account at least once is a study time of 15
minutes has scored lower grades in their studies.
Guest ( 2012) found Students have started relying more on the information accessible
easily on these social networking sites and the web. This reduces their learning and
research capabilities.
James (2013) on his research found that BFA student, Alli Kennedy, said some
negative effects of social networking are that “kids don’t think before they post; instead
they get caught up in their emotions and will later regret what they post. It also tends to
waste a lot of time and causes a lot of drama.”
.
Steve (2012) has that discover Students while searching and studying online, they get
attracted to using social media sites and sometimes forget while they are using it. this
waste their time, and sometimes, students are not able to deliver their work in the
specified time frame The other negative effect on students is that they are spending too
much time on social sites, and much lesser time on socializing in person. In fact, there
is a lack of body signals besides other nonverbal cues, including tone and inflection in
case of social networking sites. Thus they cannot be considered as an adequate
replacement for any face-to-face communication. Not only this, students who are
spending a great deal of time on these social networking sites are not able to
communicate in person in an effective manner.
Marz (2012) found that people who suffer from this are students. Instead of doing their
homework's they tend to fail their academic exam.

Chapter 3
3.1 Theoretical Framework
Our research study “The effects of social media in our daily life and to the academic
performance of AIUB students” tried to answer the question “What will happen to the
academic performance of student with their habitual interaction to social media sites ?”
The research study of Nayzabekov (2012) claimed that social media sites will affect it in
a badway, with the statement, “the idea of multitasking which could perform different
years of action while visiting social media sites would affect the concentration of
students, because for example a student has a lot of assignments and works on
different subjects instead of doing it on time and early, he/she visits first the social
media sites.” According to this statement, social media sites will affect the concentration
of a student that we presume would lead to the bending of focus of student from
studying to usage of social media sites. This is supported by the statement of Ellis and
Knaus which sees it as, “a failure to initiate or complete a task or activity by determined
time.” In other words, he sees social media sites -related activities as non –academic
activities that will result in postponing the completion of academic task.
However, the study of Elizabeth Power (2012) stated that social media sites has a good
effect, with the statement, “the potential for using social media sites to further the goal of
education is immerse, and teachers are making the faraway into the world of online
social networking site for educational purposes.” As the statement said, there is a lot of
potential in furthering the education using social media sites since teachers would be
able to support the students even if the school period ends.
Power (2012) sees social media as “a coin that have two sides”, meaning that there are
dual effects of social media The researchers decided to use this theory together with the
integration of Power and Ellis and Knaus as the framework of the study.
Based on on the above disquisition the following variables are indicated as
impact to the effect of social media in our daily life

4.0 Research methodology
This research will be conducted to identify the effect of social media specifically on AIUB
student. This is a descriptive research simple random method is used here . the primary
data has been collects from 40 student through a self administrated survey
questionnaire .the questionnaire consist of the background of the respondent and attitude
about social media . for data analysis Minitab basic statistics is used .

6.1 concluding remarks :
The research deals with a survey on the effect of the social in our daily life . The social
media referencing which is used in the research tool are Face book, Skype, , Twitter
and MySpace. The questionnaire consists of 26 question with respondent profile . The
survey was being approach by self administration to 40 students . All the participants
actively respond to this questionnaire. The return average of the questionnaire was
greatly high with 100 percent. The average participation of the male respondents is
greater than the female respondents with 67.50 percent. the responded all are aiub
The final results of the survey shows that almost 87.50 percent users like face book as
their primary and favorite social media form followed by goole plus 5.13 per cent and
the 7.96 percent users use other forms of social media like MySpace. Most of The
respondents believe social media would increase students’ academic performance.
Since students are also using social media for their academic activities.
18
6.2 limitation and direction for future research
The main limitations is sample size . here 40 student is picked by simple random sampling method . this research is based on 40 opinion of aiub , may other student have different opinion regarding social media. The technology is always changing and people become mere reliable on technology . for that efficient use is very important ,
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We acknowledge all the respondents of the questionnaires for their cooperation
