I chose this question because I wanted to know the ratio of Males to Females as this would affect my results. If I could redo my questionnaires I would choose a more even ratio of males and females. This shows that over a third of the questionnaires have been answered by women. This suggests that the people most willing to answer the questionnaire are females however it doesn’t directly affect my final music magazine.

I chose to ask this question because I wanted to find out what age groups was the majority. It is clear that the

majority of the people asked were 16-18 years of age. If I were to redo my data collecting I would try ask a larger

variety of age groups in order to get a more diverse set of data. This data shows almost three-quarters of the people

asked were in the age category of 16-18. This is most likely due to myself being part of this age group. This does

not immediately affect my final magazine however it shows that the magazine will most likely be aimed at

people within this age group.

I needed to know what sort of colour theme people liked most because it would affect massively on the final design and outcome of my magazine since the theme would have to be consistent throughout the magazine pages. The data shown shows that the answers were very varied and there were many themes that were similarly liked however the theme with the most positive feedback was Black and white featuring some colour. This is a good theme because I will still be able to incorporate some colour yet keeping it quite monochrome meaning this is a happy medium between all the themes that could be chosen. In response to the results I will make my overall theme black and white with some colour and the colours used will likely be more on the pastel side since that was also a popular theme.

Since I needed a masthead that would stand out and be attention grabbing, I needed to know what sort of fonts people preferred for it. The look of the masthead would very likely change the success of the magazine. The results were quite balanced with all possible answers being quite favourable however the one that got the most votes was a decorative font. Therefore will make my masthead using a decorative font.

Following on from the previous question, I needed to also know what font they would

find most suitable for the text as this was the main body of the magazine. Compared to the masthead, there were no votes for decorative

fonts to be used as text which I believe is understandable as it would be very hard to

read an entire double page spread in a decorative font. San Serif fonts were most

favoured and I will therefore use one for the main body of text on my magazine pages.

I wanted my magazine to be focused on one certain genre mainly as I think this would attract a certain audience rather than making a generic magazine which people may not be as interested in.Many options were given and the majority of them got a similar amount of votes however the genre that got almost a quarter of the votes was Rock. Therefore my magazine will be focused mainly on Rock music and that genre. Alternative was also slightly higher voted for so I may include some since I think the two genres can work fairly well together.

I asked the open question of writing three of the person’s favourite music artists and from the people who names rock as their preferred genre, I took their answers and the artists most said were:

1)Fall out boy2)Paramore3)Hozier

I also took inspiration from the answers given by people preferringthe alternative genre and their top answers were:

1)Bastille2)Alt-J3)Vance Joy

From this data I will be sure to include these artists as they are very popular in these genres of music.

I wanted to know if people read music magazine and brought them however the results show that

very few people did. Therefore through my magazine I plan to try expand the buying of

music magazines, especially in the age group of 16-18 since this was the group who answered the

most questionnaires. The data does not directly affect the outcome of my music magazine in

terms of the design.Leading on from the previous question, I wanted

to further know how often these types of magazines were brought. Since many didn’t read music magazines they could not answer however

from the people who did them they brought issues only sometimes. This suggests that the

magazine should be produced on a fortnightly/ monthly basis as this is roughly how often they

would be likely to buy the. Since many people did not buy music magazines,

it was hard to find a magazine people most enjoyed reading however Rolling Stones was the most favoured music magazine, therefore I may

choose to take inspiration from the magazine since it is clearly successful.

Along with the article question I wanted to also know what other non text feature people would want. Both posters and competitions were equally very popular and therefore I may include one or the other depending on what is feasible and also will compliment the magazine best. I am more likely to have a competition as it is easier to do and is easier to feature within my magazine.

I wanted to know what articles were most popular as this would be what I made my double page spread on most likely since I wanted to have an article that people were interested in reading. The two most popular responses were new music and interviews, therefore I will most likely make a double page spread on new music and possible include a short interview alongside it. The other popular answer was chart music however since I am focussing my magazine of Rock, I don’t think it would be appropriate to include this within my magazine.

Since I needed to price my magazine I asked for the maximum price of what they would pay for a magazine with consideration that the quality would improve depending of the pricing. The three options were all quite favoured however many people went for quality but pricier and said £4.50. Therefore I will make sure that the magazine is not priced over £4.50, I am more likely to price the magazine around £4 however as that was also a popular option.
