Historical Background

Between 1935 and 1947 the territory of Gilgit-Baltistan was under the British who controlled it through Dogras .

It was easy for them to keep eyes on political development in china and Russain form Gilgit Baltistan..

In 1947, the people of Gilgit Baltistan fought against the Maharaja and got independence.

 On 1st November 1947, the local population of Gilgit Baltistan of Gilgit-Baltistan fought the Dogra Raj and have their own independent republic.

On 1st November the state of Gilgit was established which state existed for 15 days and on 16th of November it was accessed into pakistan under the presidency of Shah Raees.

In 1953 in Karachi it was given the name of Northern Areas.

The constitutions of 1956, 1962 and 1973, do not cover Northern Areas (GB) as part of Pakistan.

FOUNDED IN 1992.BLAMED AS RAW IS FUNDING.BNF is also organizing students so as to instigate the

sentiments of separatism among them. For this aim, on July 29, 2008, BNF had created Karakorum Students Organization (KSO) at Karakorum University Gilgit, and also decided to form Balwaristan National Students Organization (BNSO).

1.GILGIT BALTISTAN UNITED MOVEMENT

Its Previous name was Gilgit–Baltistan National Alliance (GBNA) demanding Independence from Pakistan and making Gilgit-Baltistan an independent state..

The Gilgit-Baltistan United Movement (GBUM) is a political movement of Gilgit-Baltistan based in Skardu, Pakistan.

The GBUM states that the Gilgit-Baltistan regions, formerly known as the Northern Areas, should be denoted "Gilgit-Baltistan" and that the Northern Areas Legislative Council should be given the status of an "Independent Constitutional Assembly" and given similar rights granted to the existing Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
