Introduction• Dialog Axiata is one of the largest telecommunication

service providers in Sri Lanka.

• It is a subsidiary of Axiata Group in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

• Formerly known as Dialog Telekom or MTN Networks.

• Has a workforce of over 4000.

• In 2014, the subscriber base was over 9 million. And now it has reached 11 million (2016).

• It’s mobile network coverage is approximately 84% of the country's land mass and 97% of Sri Lanka's population

• Training sessions are given for newly joined employees to adapt to the organizations culture by a purpose built institution, the Dialog Academy.

E.g. :

Suntel was bought under Dialog. Suntel Ltd and Dialog Axiata were having different cultures so it was

hard time for Suntel’s employees to adapt to the new culture. Therefore they were given various training sessions and briefing before

been recruited to Dialog.

• It’s mostly biased towards an Aggressive Culture.

• As it’s a technology based company, it’s Innovative.

• But it also encourages a performance-driven & an outcome-oriented Culture where good work results in more work, rewards and benefits.

Motivation• A reward named “BRAVO” is given to staff members

who come up with innovative ideas. This is given in a special meeting within a quarterly basis.

• The Dialog Awards are held every year to appreciate and motivate outstanding employee contributions.

The 2012 Dialog Awards programme recognized and celebrated a total of 93 awards being distributed among employees for their outstanding contributions in various areas.

Leadership• Board of directors and the senior management takes the

decisions under the advices of the parent group Axiata (Malaysia) .

• A suggestion box scheme and companywide surveys are held periodically to get the opinions of the employees.

• These suggestions are then presented to the higher management and required operational changes are done.

• Dialog preserves a Democratic Leadership style.

• Divisional level staff meetings are also held to exchange information between management and employees.

• Every local branch can be considered a Command Group ( Manager + Subordinates)

Social Responsibilities• Dialog practices good environmental practices to be

morally right.

• They work towards a more eco-friendly environment.

• Also tries to use modern technology and equipment to be more greener and less power consuming.

Be Mobile Wise

• Improper use of mobile phones cause harm, disturbance and even tragic accidents.

• “Be Mobile Wise” is an awareness program conducted by Dialog to educate the customers and employees on correct use of mobiles.

• This campaign is extended further as “Be Technology Wise” to create awareness on proper technology options and use.

• This programme was started in 2007, aimed at reducing electronic waste with the guidance of Central Environment Authority.

• Used handsets, batteries and accessories were collected for recycling to prevent these from landfilling sites in Sri Lanka.
