What is copyright?

Copyright is a legal right created by the law of a country that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to its use and distribution, usually for a limited time, with the intention of enabling the creator to receive compensation for their intellectual effort.

Copy Right law -

The exclusive rights are, however, not absolute and do not give the creator total control of their works because they are limited by limitations to copyright law.

How copyright is used?

Copyright is used for the main purpose that nobody illegally downloads what has been copyrighted. For example when a film comes out in cinema it will have copyright so nobody can legally download it. If someone gets a pirate copy of a film this goes against the copyright law as you have basically stolen the film. So when the film comes out on DVD it wont have copyright anymore as it is available to the public.

Copyright in adverts

Copyright also exists in adverts, A good example of this is E4 and the BBC, these are two very unique companies that have there own logos. If any other company copied these in any way it will go against E4’s personal copyright rules and will be able to take action against the companies.

My Advert - CRY

If my advert was going to be aired on TV and I used CRY’s logo without permission, I would be in trouble with there company, as they could use the copyright act against me, as I have used there logo and company without permission. For my advert to be aired on TV I would need to talk to CRY and be able to get their permission to use there company in my advert.
