From Junior Product Manager to Product Manager- Event Coordinator in the Publishing House

Let me take you on a short trip through various challenges you meet in a publishing environment.

Page 2: Product Manager- Event Coordinator

• Publishing products you are asked to create may come from unexpected fields: one day it is a newsletter for health care, another a lifestyle magazine for oldies

• Day- to- day management of magazines is pretty daunting (you need to acquire authors and publishing material, coordinate the publishing process and always remember about the budget)

• Once a month there comes a time when you can let out creatively and write the editorial or maybe even an article

• When you organize events and conferences always think globally (or at least nationally)

• Write all the bodycopies for promotional materials by your self, otherwise you will end up with an ecological conference for doctors

• Negotiating with lecturers, media and sponsors takes time and enormes phone bill

• Controling budget is essential• Last but not least represent the

Publishing House during the actual event to the best of your abbilities

On an off day you may be asked to create and promote an innovative educational prodact that combines seminars, webinars and long- distant learning.

All the above mentioned things are but just an addition to a list of circa 20 different seminars and promotion approaches for various client groups that is your main responsibility.
