The Beginning

“There is no written record of the day the idea was conceived for a national association on fire protection. The handful of men who gathered early in 1895 in the Boston office of Everett U. Crosby scarcely envisioned how their exploratory conversations for such an organization would lead to what is now a dynamic and vigorous world leader in the continuing battle against loss of life and material wealth by fire – the National Fire Protection Association.”

Bugbee, Percy. Men Against Fire: the Story of the National Fire Protection Association 1896-1971. Boston: National Fire Protection Association, 1971.
