Education

3-4 years of undergraduate work

4 years of pharmacy school

Have to pass all undergraduate work with a grade of a C or better

Last year of pharmacy school is a full year of rotations where you work at

different pharmacies for six weeks at a time

Education

Pharmacists are educated in pharmacology, pharmcognsy, organic

chemistry, general chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, and many other

things.

On graduation pharmacist are licensed to work either nationally or

regionally

Some pharmacist undergo special training to specialize in categories like

cardiology and oncology

Responsibilities

Compounding drugs

Providing pharmaceutical information

Supervising pharmacy technician and other staff

Provide immunizations

Referrals to other health professionals if necessary

Clinical medication management

Providing patients with health monitoring and advice

Provision of non-prescription or over the counter drugs

Assessment of diagnosed or undiagnosed conditions

Specialized monitoring of disease states

Education and counseling for patients

Retail staff pharmacists- $113,600

Hospital staff pharmacists- $111,700

Mail order staff pharmacists- $109,300

Clinical Pharmacists- $113,400
