Networking is a JobJust because you have promoted yourself or your company on one of more web sites or job boards, you can’t just sit back and just wait for the phone to ring or wait for someone to eventually contact you.
You have to “make it a job” each day in dedicating time and effort to actively connect and network with people and businesses in “promoting” yourself and your business.
While there are several means of doing this, the most effective ones are either “live” face-to-face or phone-to-phone networking encounters.
It’s those verbal or in-person “one-to-ones” or “one-to-many” interfaces that allow you to actively and verbally pitch your “elevator speech” which is more effective in advancing your career.

Continue to hone your “elevator speech” so it has a natural and even flow in conveying who you are, what you do and what you want to pique the interest of your listener in a short 30 to 60 second timeframe.
Search for, attend and participate in “speed networking” events in your area on a regular basis to physically meet and interface with “real people” who may be your target or whom may know the right person for you to contact.
Search for and participate in phone-to-phone “speed networking” events right from the convenience of your own phone to interface remotely with “real people” in conveying your elevator pitch.
