Identity Statement

I am a communications and media professional that focuses on transmedia and multiplatform storytelling. Born and raised in Perth, WA, Lived in Brisbane, Queensland for three years and currently resides in Melbourne, Vic, Meredith has also travelled all over the globe since the age of 7. Fascinated by other cultures, I am the sort of person to thoroughly research anything before jumping in, however, I am also a bid of an adrenaline junky (i.e. the sort of person who abseils off tall cliffs facing down!). I am an organiser and scheduler, and I love working with creative people in order to produce a tangible produce by a deadline.

RationaleI wish to be seen as someone who is willing and able to get the job done. someone who works well with creative teams, who has a thorough knowledge of media strategy, popular culture and who is intelligent. I would like to position myself as someone who works logistics and schedules for the creative process in producing multiplatform and transmedia storytelling. My key publics are multi-media storytelling professionals and companies, Media professionals, online personalities and content creators and other independent media professionals and aspiring professionals: The media industry is one of the most collaborative industries that exists, and often companies and professional projects will emerge from these groups of collaborators. I have contacted people such as @wearetpf (The Project Factory, I also follow their employees) @MiaFreedman @RosieWaterland, @storycodeorg and @TheLastLeg (http://www.journeyoftheseeds-themovie.com/begin/) (IBRUS, I. & SCOLARI, C. A. 2014. Transmedia Critical: Empirical Investigations into Multiplatform and Collaborative Storytelling ~ Introduction.)Also by focusing on my life experience, I can be seen as more than just another person that wants to be in media.

StrategyI am currently utilizing about 5 platforms and looking into Google+ as a possible platform, however the communities dedicated to Transmedia are not updated as frequently, or as busy as the other platforms. As most professionals that I have engaged with on twitter and in other platforms, have an informal feel, yet are always linking their posts to their brand. this is a tactic that she is prepared to follow. Through posting media related content, I have already gained some twitter followers who work in the media field.I have also engaged in hashtag conversations regarding other interests and politics, such as the #isitok hashtag on @thelastleg, and by re-blogging/posting articles of interest from websites such as the mipblog site,I have considered other forms of media such as vimeo and Instagram, however as my identity does not focus on the visual, more on my knowledge and production skills, I have decided to leave this at present. I aim to regularly blog, and not just concerning on coursework, but on other identity and media issues. I have found that late nights are the best with connecting with time zones such as Europe, where there is a large Transmedia community and I aim to tweet at least once every two days. I am hoping to upload portfolio works onto her The Loop page within a couple of weeks, and regularly checks her statistics on LinkedIn and Blogspot. I will also review and update this strategy based on what is working, and what doesn't. I am so far uncomfortable with scheduling tweets as it seems too impersonal, and hard to be interactive.
