The Introduction

Page 4: Lean Leader's Relationship Self-Assessment

Intro-A tool to aid HanseiONE OF THE CRITICAL BUT OFTEN MISSED STEPS IN

IMPROVING IS REFLECTION THAT LEADS TO ACTION. IN LEAN, THE JAPANESE WORD HANSEI IS USED. HANSEI IS THIS KIND OF PAUSING TO LOOK AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED

AND TO IDENTIFY KAIZEN OPPORTUNITIES. WHAT FOLLOWS IS A TOOL TO AID IN THIS ACTIVITY. THE T-

MODEL PROVIDES A FRAMEWORK TO ASSESS WHERE WE ARE IN KEY ASPECTS OF OUR RELATIONSHIPS. WE MAY

REVIEW WHERE WE ARE WITH TOOLS AND PROCESSES, BUT OFTEN DO NOT TAKE THE TIME TO ENSURE THAT OUR

RELATIONSHIPS ARE WHERE THEY NEED TO BE. RELATIONSHIPS FUNCTION MUCH LIKE OPERATING SYSTEM

SOFTWARE THAT WORK BEHIND THE MORE EVIDENT THINGS WE DO. LET’S GET STARTED. -TOM CURTIS 2011
