Salford City College Eccles Sixth Form Centre BTec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production Games Design Unit 78 – Digital Graphics for Computer Games HA2 – Transformation Production Log Name Cristian Galliano Date: 21/10/14 We were given the task to create a character and a game idea for a company called Lazy Eye Media, for this we had 4 weeks to design our character profile and other things such as the game synopsis and a cover art. First though I had to complete the Photoshop and illustrator tutorials. Date:23/10/14 Today I finished working on my photoshop and illustrator tutorials and began working on the project given to us by lazy eye media. I began bay doing task one which was a project definition. For this I had to explain my skills and talk about the project at hand. I also completed my budget which was the start of task 2.my next task would be to plan out my schedule. Date:24/10/14 Today I finished working on my schedule and began planning ahead by thinking of stories for my character, how he will look, and what my game will be about. I did this in a mind map format on an A4 sheet of paper. Date:27/10/14 I finally finished my planning and I decided to make my game a survival horror game. In which you would play as a normal everyday man who is dropped into this horror game when he sleeps. I would make it like a stealth game and not much of a fighting game as horror games are scarier if you have to run away from the enemies in the game. The next thing I have to do is to decide on how my character will look and what his backstory will be. I have decided I may base the characters looks off of myself.

We were given the task to create a character and a game idea for a company called Lazy Eye Media, for this we had 4 weeks to design our character profile and other things such as the game synopsis and a cover art. First though I had to complete the Photoshop and illustrator tutorials.

I decided today that my character would be based off of myself and I decided to look into some other games and horror movies for inspiration. Films like A Nightmare On Elm Street and games like The Evil Within have majorly inspired my game. I decided I would star on task 3 which is researching and saving things relevant to my idea.

Date:3/11/14

Today I finished task 3. I completed my game synopsis, my mindmap of ideas and also my researched images and films which I put into a word document. My next job would be to start on task 4 which asks me to create a character profile and also to fill out a legal and ethical checklist.

Date:5/11/14

Today I finished task 4 and began working on task 5. Task 5 involves me doing a photoshoot, and creating both raster and vector images which are to be put into a template to be posted on my game cover later on in task 7.

Today I finally took photos and I finally completed outlining my background on adobe illustrator. I did this because I like the look of this type of art work and I think it really suites the type of vibe I am trying to achieve with my game.

Date:17/11/14

Today I completed my final vector art work which I would use for my cover. I added my favourite photo from my photoshoot and also added a stool so that my character is sat in the room, I used a raster artwork first to plan it out on photoshop which looked like this.

I then transferred the chair and my character into illustrator and began to create outlines also for them. After doing so my images looked like this.

In my opinion I think that this transformation finished really well and I like the effect you get when you use this technique.

I finished task 5 and I began task 6 which was to put my image and my game synopsis into a template so that It would look like a video game case. I completed this this lesson and the result was as follows.

Overall I think that this turned out really well and I think the whole think suites my game. However I do believe I could improve this by making the title for my game case more eye catching and making it stand out more.

Today was my final day working on the project and I realised I hadn’t completed 1 of the photoshop tutorials and one of the illustrator ones so I went back and finished them and uploaded them to my blog.
