In a nutshell 1 & 2 December 2010 – Cleverwood conducted the pilot project EURES Online Job Days, alias EOJD, in Brussels – Belgium. Every year, EURES, teams throughout the EU, organize hundreds of 'European Job Days' – the perfect place to recruit, meet employers, discuss job plans with a EURES Advisor or find out more about how the EU promotes job mobility in Europe. With people's changing approach about Social Media online recruitment services, EURES took the leap by trying another alternative of their physical Job Days. Being a pilot project for all stakeholders, the most important was to gather feedback for the next editions. EURES Online Job Days (EOJD) gathered 4 test countries: The Netherlands, Estonia, Italy and Finland. The team set-up by Cleverwood helped jobseekers by providing information about working and living in the EU exclusively by using social media platforms for promotion and communication purposes. Extensive usage of Twitter, Facebook, Slideshare, LinkedIn and Youtube gave a maximum visibility to the event. The EOJD post event portal is available on: http://www.euresonlinejobdays.eu Focus Points EURES Online Job Days was a pilot project that lets EU citizens ask detailed questions and receive live answers from EURES advisers. Jobseekers were able to:

• Discover practical tips through the tweets by the EURES advisor,

• Receive tweets and status updates for available job openings in Europe,

• Search jobs in the EURES database, • Book a live chat session with one of the

available EURES advisors via their

favorite Instant Messaging service (Skype, Gtalk or MSN messenger),

• Find information about working and living in another country

The results With a modest promotional budget, the two-day event gathered more than 10,500 visitors and led to more than 500 live chat session’s request from the Jobseekers.

The results surely highlight the jobseekers’ needs for this type of event. With a sufficient promotional budget, and the decision to work on a set of 4 countries for this pilot exercise, the online event reached many people throughout Europe. We can conclude that this topic is at the heart of EU citizen’s debate. Finally, this experience highlights the importance of Social Media in the recruitment sector.

« Online tools are much more efficient, especially for long-term follow-up, I can be far better and more productive » - Italian EURES Advisor

« This is a new and rapid way to find job offers in EU » - Jobseeker
