Summary of Major Accomplishments and Responsibilities

Current

Cargill (Jul 12 - Present)Enterprise Architect: Infrastructure & Storage

* Architect new scale out solutions that improve efficiencies by reducing cost and complexity* Business case generation to provide value proposition of ‘business as usual’ or, ‘new direction’* Research and develop designs, including strategic technical roadmaps for all SAN/storage infrastructure and tools, ensuring enterprise wide architecture consistency* Provide technical guidance and direction to business units of new and legacy environments* Facilitate storage or system specific POC’s, define the requirements and construct the test criteria * Work closely with our strategic partners to drive greater value and grow our relationships * Act as the go-to resource for all storage area network related efforts

Prior Accomplishments

Verizon (Jun 08 - Jun 12)Storage Engineer

* Large scale data migrations of NetApp and EMC arrays to Hitachi (HDS) Subsystems (54 PB environment)* Data/Volume Shredding of end of life HDS and EMC storage systems * Identify, manage and tune any performance issues utilizing Hitachi Tuning Manager (HTnM) then correct with suggested new strategies* Integrate Copy-on-Write Snapshot & Shadow Image into DR plans* Storage provisioning of new HDS served environments as well as storage decommissioning* Migrated EOL Brocade SAN environment to Cisco MDS * Perl and VB scripting to automate storage management* Capacity and design studies around HDS subsystems and then implementations* Documenting customer processes and environment Stiefel Laboratories (Jul 07 - Jun 08)Infrastructure Engineer

* SAN Hardware refresh - built Core-Edge design SAN in a Brocade director & edge environment * Engineered a rapid deployment plan for new HDS SAN and HP Integrity blade servers* HDLM implemented to enhance failover and load balancing capabilities* Re-engineering backup & recovery strategy, from networked, to HDS COW snap then tape* Implemented new data center layout and corrected inefficiencies* Installed iSCSI & FC NetApp environment * Over allocated data consolidation using tiered data structure* Designed and implemented requirements for new MS solutions and/or environments

Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (Mar 99 - Mar 07)Infrastructure and Disaster Recovery Engineer

* Designed and implemented new world class disaster recovery data center with evolution considerations for a virtual data center with synchronous replication. This consisted of a partitioned tri-production host model with 60 satellite locations.* Delivered forklift upgrade of original gigabit SAN to more common core/edge design segmented over 2 sites. Included thorough documentation set, under budget and ahead of schedule.* Lead a Windows consolidation project with SAN booted VMware ESX on Blade server technologies. Realized advantages included notable cost savings as well as the efficiency and reliability of a rebuilds and disaster recovery. * Established the need, and then installed a VTL (Virtual Tape Library) system and HP tape libraries as well as Sun tape silos to convert the legacy host based backup to Veritas enterprise backup and support the virtualization initiative. * Tasked with the conversion of HP Tru64 and OpenVMS environment to a Sun Solaris UNIX based system. * Envisioned, installed and documented a new storage strategy. This included the migration of older SCSI disk arrays to the latest EVA fibre storage array solutions offered by HP and StorEdge by SUN. The plan later required a carbon-copy development and test fibre storage solution (already employed by production).* Installed, implemented and documented the newest State (Turnpike Toll Road) host production computer system and infrastructure. * Designed and documented the "Windows and Linux Boot from SAN" strategy to introduce a fifty percent cost savings for all future X86 server purchases. Plan included a substantial reduction in man-hours associated with new and/or replacement server hardware.* Provided a detailed internal training opportunity to assist in knowledge transfer of system configurations and installation procedures for the Operations, Applications and Systems departments.

Sr. System Administrator - 1996-1999USF Physicians Group (Information Systems) - Tampa, FL

* Administrative support of the head office VMS and Windows Server environment. Maintained support for over 400 users, and designed and incorporated storage availability into the configuration using OpenVMS volume shadowing. Later upgrading to and taking advantage of Raid technology.* Designed and implemented the entire Windows Domain (client/server) solution, which addressed the requirement to completely replace an existing Novell network from the ground up.* Redesigned and expanded the existing VAX/VMS infrastructure by performing a VAX to Alpha migration.* Implementation and support of the global Windows Server backup solution for all company Windows systems utilizing Symantec Enterprise Backup. * Developed and instituted a corporate wide Disaster Recovery plan.* Supervised a staff of 5 Operator’s in a Management role, which included budget preparation, recruiting and retaining staff, as well as preparing cost benefit analysis.

Education & Specialty Training

* Certified EACOE Enterprise Architect* Computer and Information Science - Seneca University* Certified Disaster Recovery Specialist* Blade Server Implementation Specialist* MS Windows MCSE Training - University of South Florida* Over 500 hours of HDS, EMC, HP classroom System Administration, Networking and Application training
