CONTRIBUTOR CAREER STRATEGY (CPD)
Submitted By:Vijay Chauhan(VII SEM, Computer Engg.)
CONCEPT OF CAREER CONTRIBUTORSwami Vivekananda believed that “ Career”
does not mean begging for employment or seeking to be gainfully occupied.
To him, “Career” meant an opportunity for us to embark upon a glorious journey of mighty contribution- to oneself, to our community, to our nation and even to the world at large.
ACQUISITIVE & CONTRIBUTIVE CAREERAn acquisitive career is one in which the
career-seeker is focused on acquiring higher position, higher salary and more benefits.
A contributive career is one where the career-seeker is focused on contributing, with rewards being a by-product of the contributions made.
DIFFERENT STRATEGIES WHICH A CONTRIBUTOR SEEKS WHILE
CHOOSING A CAREER
OPPORTUNITY
VISIONPURPOSE
VISION
CAPACITY EXPANSION
VISION
EXTERNAL GROWTH+INNER GROWTH
.
STRATEGY NO. 1 :-
A Contributor chooses such challenging opportunities
which help in one’s own development.
Such opportunities are important rather than salary and rewards
STRATEGY NO. 2:-
A Contributor is purpose-focused, not domain-focused.
Means the contributor is willing to learn and do whatever it takes to serve the purpose of the organization of which he/she is a part.
STRATEGY NO. 3:-
The contributor is willing to try out and learn new things, diversify if needed, volunteer for new responsibilities, take on new roles- thus expanding his/her capacity.
The contributor does not restrict himself/herself to the comfort zone his/her job.
STRATEGY NO. 4:-
The contributor recognizes and seeks both external growth as well as inner growth within himself/herself.
Here, the External growth refers to more money, more power and higher position.
Inner growth refers to the enhancement of capacities, leadership skills and the ability to contribute effectively.
