Communications Officer Overseeing communications and marketing across the sport of Netball in SA
Working across communication, marketing and PR functions
Full Time Role Based at Mile End
Netball SA is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout SA. It has responsibility for servicing its 30,000 members, the operations of Netball SA Stadium and the running of its elite team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Currently Netball SA is seeking to appoint the key role of Communications Officer. The Communications Officer is responsible to drive projects and campaigns that ensure the ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of the Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds communication strategy which are designed to contribute to the expansion and diversification of Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds business. Requirements also include the development and production of content and communication support by coordinating and producing media content for a range of communication channels and developing and delivering corporate communication material across the Netball SA business. Key areas of responsibility in the role include:
Develop, implement and review Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds communication plans and work to ensure the achievement of Key Performance Indicators
Ensure Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds maintain a high level of awareness and loyalty and that the brand is developed and supported by employees, members, with the community, general public and other stakeholders
Produce and develop copy for a wide range of communications materials within Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds brand guidelines, including stories, match reports, brochures, flyers, merchandise and other hard copy marketing material and collateral
Responsible for the delivery of all Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds publications, collateral, communications and publicity
Oversee all social networking communications for Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds and the production of e-communications
Drive marketing collateral and activity for all Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds programs
Develop and maintain a media image library for all media and communications requirements for Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds
Ideally suiting those who come from a Communications background, it is expected the successful applicant will have experience in all forms of
multimedia generation, creation and graphic design experience. Individuals with experience in the sporting industry or a commercial background
are equally encouraged to apply. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (communications, marketing, public relations) will be highly
regarded. Given the nature of the position, some out of hours work will be required in this role.

Netball is the leading women's participation sport and top team based sport in Australia. Netball SA is responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout South Australia and has the responsibility for servicing its 30,000 members, the operations of Netball SA Stadium and the running of its elite team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds As a professional sporting organisation and one with extensive community reach, Netball SA is a key tool to enhance the reputation of the sport and to communicate news of significance to members, fans, supporters and the general public. The Adelaide Thunderbirds are a professional netball team competing in the ANZ Championship. The Thunderbirds are owned and operated by Netball SA and are a key strategic component of promoting and developing the game of netball in South Australia. Position Scope: The Communications Officer is responsible to drive projects and campaigns that ensure the ongoing
delivery and continuous improvement of the Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds communication

Netball Australia and the ANZ Championship In order for Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds to build and sustain high quality brand awareness and communication initiatives, the Communications Officer must understand and clearly demonstrate the following functional role requirements: Key Areas of Responsibility Communications
Develop, implement and review Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds communication plans and work to ensure the achievement of Key Performance Indicators

Develop, expand and promote Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds profile using mainstream media, social media and multimedia in accordance with the strategic direction developed by General Manager – Commercial
Produce and develop copy for a wide range of communications materials within Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds brand guidelines, including stories, match reports, brochures, flyers, merchandise and other hard copy marketing material and collateral
Responsible for the delivery of all Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds publications, collateral, communications and publicity
Develop, coordinate, implement and review strategies to ensure maximum exposure of Netball SA’s key programs, events (including the Adelaide Thunderbirds) and players through print, radio, social media and electronic broadcast mediums
Contribute to and implement digital media strategies and provide regular review
Oversee all social networking communications for Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds and the production of e-communications
Review, develop and maintain content for Netball SA, Adelaide Thunderbirds and Subway Cup websites
Identify, develop and maintain strategic stakeholder networks, relationships and partnerships to enhance Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds reputation
Assist with the development, management and implementation of integrated communication / PR strategies and budgets
Assist in sponsor servicing and delivery of key partnership accountabilities, including the recognition in all media related material.

Marketing
Responsible for the development of marketing collateral and resources to support Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbirds operations
Drive marketing collateral and activity for all Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbird programs
Provide consultative services to other business departments around marketing services and strategies (annual marketing planning calendar)
Support the General Manager – Commercial across sponsorship, marketing and commercial activities
Develop and maintain a media image library for all media and communications requirements for Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Project Management
Apply appropriate project management process to coordinate internal and external project resources in order to successfully meet project plans.
Netball Australia / ANZ Championship
Assist in running communications at international Tests matches and ANZ Championship matches
Work collaboratively on the promotion of ANZ Championship and Test matches
The promotion of developing / emerging athletes via national competitions (Nationals, ANL, etc.) in conjunction with Netball Australia.
General
Prepare and contribute to monthly board reports
Participate in professional development activities, keep abreast of current communication/
website trends and introduce relevant practices to Netball SA
Represent Netball SA in a professional manner at all times
Supervise and direct work experience and trainees as required
Other duties as required by the General Manager – Commercial and/or CEO.

Contribute to the overall success of the Netball SA team through open and honest

Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes: Essential:
Experience in media, marketing or communications position
Proven experience in developing and implementing broad media communications strategies
Advanced professional writing, proof reading and editing skills including preparation of
media releases, newsletters, marketing collateral and other documents
Experience in providing strategic media and communications advice to senior management
Proven ability in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external
stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in writing for the web and social media platforms
High-level verbal and written communications skills
Sound ability to negotiate and influence
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
The ability to manage progressive websites and utilise as a key communication tool
Demonstrated reliability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
Advanced organisational skills
Advanced computer skills and information technology literacy including use of Mac
A current driver’s license.
Highly desirable:
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (communications, marketing, public relations)
Experience in marketing, PR and/or communications
Graphic design experience

Hours of work:
The position is full-time and the nature of the role requires out of hours, weekend work and
