Now it is time for
COMMUNITY ACTION TEAMS to take it to a new level!
Overview of Teams Building Business /Newburgh Business AssociationCreate and organize a Newburgh Business Association. Mission is to support
local business through partnerships, activities, tourism, festivals, etc.
Broadway TransformationPartnering with City Planning and Development, leveraging information from
the Master Plan, start the process to transform Broadway. Clean & Beautify NewburghDefine an ongoing solution to cleaning up Newburgh and keeping is clean.
We may need to create a non-profit organization or partner with one that will expand its mission to cover this goal. We need the power to raise money to fund many of the projects that need to be done.
Creating a Safe CityWe want to change the perception of Newburgh across the Hudson Valley.
We want Newburgh to become known as the “last place you want to be caught with drugs or doing a violent crime. Safe for citizens, safe for businesses and safe for visitors.
Overview of Teams TransportationThis team needs to look at both a short term and long term
transportation solution as well as a Newburgh City/Town solution and a Regional solution. We must improve the current situation.
Newburgh Heritage and Art FestivalAs a way to market the history and art community, Newburgh needs to
start a festival honoring both. This team will focus on creating the process and overall plan for the first Newburgh Heritage and Art Festival in 2013 for last of July or early August.
Friend of SeniorsThe Seniors in our City are all but forgotten because of the so many
other problems. This Team would needs to assess out current situation and work with the Seniors to enhance our senior programs.
Landlords and TenantsThis team needs to be comprised of both tenants and landlords. The
objective is to find an equitable and fair solution to the issues that currently exist. It is a complex problem that will need some truly “out of the box” thinking to create a win/win solution.
Overview of Teams Youth Although there are multiple programs for youth across the City, we need
to understand how they work or do not work together. Then we must work on creating an integrated, unified solution for our children.
Emergency PlanThe focus of this team is to work with the Fire Department to implement
a plan to manage emergencies; heat, rain, snow that cause basic services to breakdown or cause our most vulnerable citizens to be at risk.
Job CreationPartnering with businesses, training groups and job creation or support
organizations to bring more jobs to the city or transport our potential employees to surrounding job locations.
Marketing the CityWe must create an active and ongoing program to market the assets of
the City. Brochures, City Memorabilia, signs at all points of entry…..
Overview of Teams Adopt-a-BlockDefine and organize a plan to organize the city into 1-2 block
areas for the purpose of working with the citizens on that block for creating cleanup solutions and making it safe.
Bring the Remains homeWe need to find a solution for the remains that are in New
Paltz that belong in Newburgh. These are the ones that were disturbed during the Court House renovation.

This reaction pattern always exists. The two things we can effect are:
• How long we are in the ‘valley of despair’.
• How deep the “valley of despair’ becomes
When we are in the valley is NOT the time to figure out our next move. This needs to be planned in the early phase.
(Resistance)
Have you had enough of the way it is?
Are you motivated?
Are you ready to create theCity of your Dreams
What is your Passion?
Do you want to help in the Newburgh Renaissance?
How much can you help? We need leaders and we also need ‘doers’. Everyone counts.
What team “calls” to you? Where do you have skills?
Together we can rebuild Newburgh
