Are you satisfied, fulfilled, happy? Your

sense of fulfilment and satisfaction in your

work and career impacts your performance

on the job and your quality of life.

HOW IT WORKS…

VALUESAre your values in line with your organisation? Or do you disagree

with some of them? Is your company's vision and purpose

compelling or at least important to you? Are you excited about your

work as a result?

2 GOALSDo you have clear goals and direction in your role? Are your goals

in line with your organisation and how well are you meeting them?

Do others understand what you're trying to achieve?

TALENTSDo you feel that your talents and abilities are fully utilised in the

organisation? What's your level of competency in your role and are

you confident that you're the right person for the role?

CONTROLDo you feel valued and heard when decisions are made? How

much freedom do you have in your role? Can you exercise

leadership and do what needs to be done? Do you have the tools,

people and resources to perform your task well? Are you trusted

implicitly?

BELONGINGDo you fit in well with your organisation's culture? Would you

consider your colleagues your friends? Does your job feel like a

second home to you? Do you enjoy office social events?

RECOGNITIONDo you feel that your contribution matters in the company? Are you

appreciated, thanked, rewarded publically or privately? Do you feel

your opinions are taken seriously? Are paid what you are worth?

GROWTHDo you feel challenged, stretched and inspired to grow? Is this

change encouraged and supported? Can you see yourself working

there long term? Do you feel compelled to give more of yourself?

ASSESSMENT

Rate and mark each section from 0-5.

4-5 = you're highly satisfied and fulfilled in your current role in your career.

2-3 = there are significant gaps in your sense of satisfaction and fulfilment

in your career.

0-1 = you're highly unsatisfied and unhappy in your career as a whole.

Draw a line across the

spoke of the wheel

that represent where

you are at right now in

your career. Give

yourself time to think

about your response,

be honest, and don't

rush it!

You Career Wheel may

look bigger or smaller,

smoother or uneven.

You now have a visual representation

of your levels of satisfaction in all

seven areas. This level of awareness

will help you understand why you feel

the way you do and hopefully kick start

a change. We are told that awareness

if 90% of the journey!

You need to now decide what you want

to do with this information. You may

want to talk with trusted friend or

colleague, a mentor or coach to gain

further insight on moving forward.

You decide the change.

You decide the time.For some people, it will be a time for stretching and challenging yourself to be even

better! The bigger and smoother the Career Wheel the happier you generally are in your

career. For others it will be a signal that's it's time to move on because the differences in

values between you and your organisation are irreconcilable.

Most of us will feel that this exercise in awareness has shed some much needed light

onto what we've suspected for some time. You may know what to do immediately! But go

slow, be thoughtful and strategic. Resist the temptation to do too much too soon. Give

yourself a week in each section to really lay some solid foundations for the rest of your

career. Ultimately, your fulfilment and satisfaction in your career is up to you, so what will

you start on today?
