DO’S• Solve customers’ problems as THEY perceive them• Give customer everything asked for - don’t try to think for them• Address every request• Explain how you’ll fill every requirement clearly, concisely• Explain why you are unique - differentiate yourself• Give evaluators the material they need to support their decision in your favour

DON’TS• Postpone writing 1st draft until not enough time to produce high quality• If you must boast, prove it• Don’t write a novel

DO’S• Make application clear, concise, unambiguous and easy to handle• Assume assessors are not familiar with your work• Be selective with material submitted• Get someone else to look over your application before submitting• Invest in good examples and reproductions of your work• Have a clear and realistic idea of what you want and how much will cost• Plan application well in advance

DON’TS• Forget to include application form or leave sections blank• Submit unlabelled CDs/DVDs• Forget to include examples of own work• Include examples of old work• Include too much or not enough information
