Who is the father of personal coaching?

Founded, in 1994, the International Coach Federation, a large association of professional coaches with over 130 chapters worldwide.

The concept of Coaching comes from the original word ‘Coach’

Fundamentally, a Life Coach helps the Client in two ways.

What is Assessment?The word “Assess” comes from Latin term ‘assidere’

means ‘sit beside’

• Assessments can be used to identify the goals and abilities of the client

• To plan the strategies to achieve the identified goals• To monitor and revise the goals from time to time

Assessment Flow Chart

• 1. Preparation – environment• 2. Welcome• 3. Introduce yourself• 4. Clarify what coaching is• 5. Find out coachee’s needs• 6. Build a relationship based on mutual trust• 7. Explain structure and content of individual sessions and of coaching process• 8. Agree on coaching procedure and progress• 9. Wrap up: evaluation of the session

At the end of the assessment , the client should be able to answer…

• Where do I want to go?

• Where am I now?

• How do I get to where I want to go

Goals should be …• SMART Goals• Specific , Measurable , attainable, realistic and time

bound

• Short term : below 2 years• Long term : 2 to 5 years• The clients should be encouraged to record the goals

and paste them at home and workplace.

Conclusion:The 5 steps for

Goal directed assessment process• 1.Gather Back ground Information (personal ,

educational &vocational )• 2.Identify possible short term and Long term goals

(important)• 3.Assess the requirements(skills & knowledge) of the

clients’ goals• 4. Assess the clients’ achievements(abilities)• 5.identify the skill gaps and plan a training program• (intervention if required)
