Advertising Plan
R*E*P*E*A*T Records – Horse Party & Gavin Chappell Bates
Product being advertised: ‘Black Holes’ by Gavin Chappell Bates and ‘Out of Sight’ by Horse Party. Aims of Advertising Campaign: To produce posters and postcards advertising both of the singles coming out while portraying the artists in an interesting and informative manner. Target Audience: The music itself is Indie Rock, so our target audience will be the Indie Rock market. The age group will vary, but we are looking a younger audience of around 16-25 because of the age of the artists themselves and who they might share the video with. Campaign Message: We have many different messages that we could send out with our campaign. We could make the artists be portrayed as mysterious. This would also help create an effective visual promotion of the artists if necessary. If we made a promo trailer for both of their singles, then we could hit a cold audience that otherwise doesn’t go out looking for obscure music.

Legal and Ethical restraints include not using anything to advertise the artists that could be considered offensive religiously, or culturally such as
a Jewish star or (on the other scale) a satanic star. We also cannot use copyrighted artwork or use anything that is not of our own creation without showing sources and credit. A legal issue that I could come across is that the form of advertising (Posters + Postcards) could very loosely be considered vandalism when used in certain areas of Cambridge. To combat this I would ensure that the places that the posters are put up would not be considered vandalism.
