If you can impress them that that is. Originally applied for merchandising associate but the HR manager suggested me that I was more qualified and should take the position of sales as it was more rewarding and would receive commission plus base. Interview Question –

• What are three obstacles of ordering online? ------------------------------------------------- Merchandising and Pricing Associate at Sears - Declined Offer – Jul 2, 2013 Reason for Declining – Got a position elsewhere. Interview Details – I recently had an interview at Sears in the shoe department as a stocker. I met with the manager who walked me through the floor, explaining how the process works and how she likes to keep a clean and efficient department. She was very nice with everything. Next we did the "actual" interview in her office. She asked some fairly normal questions;

• Why do you want to work here? She wrote down everything I said. Again, she was very nice and would nod if I gave the "right" answer. I didn't meet with the HR rep as she was busy but I will soon. Interview Question –

• Name two examples in which you overcame a challenge. This was pretty tough to answer, though not impossible and shouldn't stump anyone. You should already have examples in your head before you interview because they ask this question a lot. I didn't and had to scramble to think of them. Be prepared and it'll be a breeze. ------------------------------------------------ Cashier at Sears - Accepted Offer – Jun 30, 2013 Interview Details – Easy. Scheduled an appointment online. Took 2 interviews to get the job. ----------------------------------------------- Cashier at Sears - Accepted Offer – Jun 25, 2013 Interview Details – You have to take a very long test/application online. You are then either flagged with a red, yellow, or green flag. Green flags are hired quickly, yellow are more hesitant, and red aren't hired (you will not know what you are). You are called in for an interview. Occasionally you come in for multiple interviews but for mine it was just one interview with three separate managers. The first was the cashier lead who outlined the details of the jobs and asked basic questions.

• What hours are you available? • What hours do you want to work? • Are you available holidays, weekends, etc.? • Are you able to do all the job specifications (listed on the job posting)? • Have you ever sold anything? • Have you ever told a friend they should buy something? Did they purchase

what you suggested? • Let me know a time where you had an issue with an associate/manager and

how did you handle it. The second interview was an MCA lead who asked if you would do other non-cashier things (MCA stuff, like fixing the floor up). If both of them like you then you get to speak with the store manager for the "cultural interview". For mine he just talked to me and asked if I would be able to provide his customers with a great shopping experience and good customer service. Once hired you are put into the system and are randomly selected for a drug test (I was selected). You have to find your own place (Sears pays for it though) and you have to do it with a certain number of days. If you miss it you are not hirable. You also can't start until the test comes back.

Orientation is actually kind of fun. But then you have to do TONS of computer training (3-4 days). Then you get a week or two of floor training depending on how well you are doing. Interview Question –

In about two weeks, I received a call for an interview. The first interview was simple with the typical routine questions. Interviewer has a handout that they write down your responses while you answer. The interview was about 30 minutes or less. A week later a 2nd interview with the operations manager. This interview is more job related questions. Offered the job on the spot at 2nd interview. Interview Question –

• If a customer has a hard time shopping or finding something online, what would you do to help them?

• What are three things you find difficult shopping online? Negotiation Details – No negotiations. They hired me on the spot after the interview. Cashier at Sears - Accepted Offer – May 31, 2013 Interview Details – Was interviewed about three days after I did the questionnaire application. They asked pretty general questions like "Where do you see yourself in this company," things like that. Interview Question –

• Do you know the details of the job you are applying for? --------------------------------------------------------- Cashier at Sears - Accepted Offer – May 24, 2013 Interview Details – Well I received a call back a week after from the HR for an interview. The first interview was held by head cashier, the questions asked were:

• What brings you to sears? • Why are you planning to leave your job? • How you handle bad customers? • What is good customer service? • What can you bring to the team?

Then after that there is a second interview with the store manager, she also asked: • What bring you to sears? • What can you bring if hired? • What job experience do you have?
