The advantage of this idea is when we put the white styrofoam on the sides we could cover up the holes.

Our materials are felt flat and foam flat.

The advantage of this idea is that the felt could hold more heat and the foam could cover up the holes that let the heat out

The disadvantage of this idea is the felt and foam would get a higher impact score.

The parts of our solar oven design that worked well was the aluminum foil because it reflected the light well into the solar oven

The parts of our solar oven that did not work well was the plastic insulator because it did not trap the heat inside the solar oven

We are going to try to improve the heat score and the impact score.

We will improve our heat score by using new materials because they could possibly trap the heat inside the solar oven.

Reflection Our improved design did not work well because the materials we used let out the heat very fast. The materials that we changed were poor insulators like felt and aluminum because they did not trap the heat inside the solar oven very long because when we moved it in the shade the solar oven let out the heat and the temperature dropped. The aluminum was probably not a good insulator because it is made of metal and is a conductor.

If we could improve again,we would take out the aluminum foil and replace it with black foam because the aluminum foil does not trap the heat but instead it reflects it and the black foam traps the heat in.
