XTRASPACE, a national provider of selfstorageandbusinessspacesolutions, willopen two new facilities in Pietermaritzburg this week.
The company has two other facilitiesin KZN — in Durban central and DurbanNorth — and the new capacity in the provincial capital brings to 21 the numberof XtraSpace’s facilities in South Africa.
The first site in Pietermaritzburg issituated on the old PG Bison site — nowknown as Willowood Park — while a second facility is in Mkondeni.
XtraSpace managing director AbriSchneider said recent investments inPietermaritzburg’s infrastructure hadbolstered confidence in the city.
“We are very excited about the localeconomy. The city is positioning itselfto utilise opportunities for economicgrowth. We believe it will develop intoa major attraction for investors in the
next five years,” he said. The city was well positioned on the
transport route between Johannesburgand Durban, and home to great international events, he said.
Each facility has a business centre, with meeting rooms, WiFi, email, copying and courier services, which couldoffer an easy business solution for the
city’s growing community and small andmediumsized businesses.
The Willowood facility will opentomorrow, while the facility in Mkondeniis already open, chief operating officerColleen Hunter said yesterday.
The Willowood facility is on a prominent site with easy access to the N3, serving the neighbourhoods of Northdale,
Eastwood, Willowton and PMB Central. It consists of 200 units in phase one,
which range from three to 30 square metres.
For the second facility, XtraSpaceteamed up with Pietermaritzburg entrepreneur Clair Goosen in rebrandingStore Away PMB to XtraSpace Mkondeni, serving the Hayfields, Cleland, Ashburton and Edendale neighbourhoods.
The two facilities will offer more than600 units when completed.
From XtraSpace’s point of view, thecity was underserviced storagewise.
“It was a logical next step for us toinvest here after the success we have hadin the Durban area,” said Schneider.
The company looks for opportunitiesto expand its property portfolio by offering affordable, accessible and securestorage space for residential and commercial customers. The facilities areavailable on lease agreements and aresuitable for business and personal use.
