• We are marketing more efficient appliances, but it is not enough to guarantee transformation.

• Cold appliance average life span is 16 years

• 50 year old appliances can still be found in use…

• Consumers see a value in old appliances as long as they still work. Running cost and environmental impacts are disregarded or not known.

This is equivalent to the electricity needed to power over 1,000,000 UK homes for an entire year
