What Movement is involved with your project? Describe in detail how the Toy moves. From the overall view I think that my design of the toy was pretty good because I have shown full details in my design of the caterpillar and also I have shown the colors I would apply to the toy of mine. Another fact that I think is good about my design of the caterpillar is that it is very detailed because I have put everything that is going to be on my project like I showed the colors, the parts of the toy and etc. Overall I think that my project design is very good and colorful because I can tell that I have followed it and also I liked the way I have done the toy in a precise dimensions and also the way I had shown different parts of the caterpillars body. The changes I would make to my toy would be that I would probably not put the skateboard because I have noticed how much time it consumed making the skateboard but I was saved from cutting it out because there was a pre-made skateboard. Another thing that I would change is that I would use the colors in a variety of ways like probably I would make a rainbow caterpillar or I would make a light to dark caterpillar. So if I were to do that again those will be my changes that I would make. 1.What do you think of the overall design of your project? What changes would you make if you were to make this project again?

The movements that are involved in my project is that I goes in a rotational movements because the four wheels are on the toy move in circles and another movement that my toy used is the linear movement because it is moving parallel to the floor or anything it is on. To move this toy the hands either to pull or push this project because the toy cannot be moved by itself. Therefore the force applied to this toy is by hands.

2. Are you happy with the materials you chose? Would you choose others next time?Yes, I am happy with the materials I chose because I think that this material is very strong and also this material is very sustainable and long lasting because when I first starting cutting this board it took me a lot of time to get through the end and also because of the thickness of the board. The thickness of the pinewood is both an advantage and a disadvantage because the wood is thick and long lasting while when

making the project it took tons of time just to cut the wood. If there is a next time I would choose this thickness for the base or the most important part while for the other parts I would use the manufactured board.

3. Is the colour scheme exactly what you expected? What alterations would you make next time? Would you use patterns instead of solid colours?

The color schemes are not exactly want I really wanted because I thought that that I would get the perfect light blue and light green but I did not instead I got the dark ones, I tried to make them lighter but I could not because the colour would get all too light and it would not look good. And also another thing that I could not get into the scheme I wanted was the brown, I wanted a light brown not a dirty light looking muddy brown I got after mixing light colors. So those were the failure in the color scheme I experienced while going through the completion of my project. The alternations that I would make next time is that I would first check the scheme of colors that then decide upon that, so then later on I would not get disappointed. Also another thing that I would do next time is to make color schemes and then decide which is easier to get and available in that case I would not back out in my colour decision. Basically I think that sometimes too much fancy can be very annoying and not that good, so next time I would still use solid colors depending on if I am doing the same project or not. I also think that solid colours attract more than patterns do and also solid is most liked because it is simple and much more efficient in likings of people (opinion).

4. Did the project take long to make? How could you make it quicker next time? Would this change the cost of manufacture?Yes the project I made took me a lot of time because the shapes and the parts of my toy was very complicated like for example the body of the toy itself was the hardest part because the shape of it was curves and the straight. So that was the hardest part of this whole project for me. Next time I should make it less challenging and the shape should me much more simple than I made it be. Or I could use the band saw and cut it in one go, which would make it WAY easier for me, and then I would be really fast. I don’t think that this would change the cost of manufacture because it is not that hard to do and not much changes except for the shape.

5. Do you think it would be easy for a company or manufacturer to set up a production line to make your project?I think that it would be easy for a company to make my product because they can use the machines to help them cut the proper shapes with precise dimensions and also I

Page 3: Vidisha's Move It evaluation final

think that the production line would not need much of the time too. Since the companies have a lot of tools they can make 5 or more of my project per day depending on how they make it and different ways they complete the project. So I think that it would be really easy for a company to do this project and it would not take them time too. 6. Is your project safe? Can you see any potentially dangerous parts on your project? Could it be made safer?Yes, I think that my project is very safe because everything is non-toxic as far as I am told about it. And also there are not small shapes that the kids can swallow can because its either stuck on the glue or either that its too big for them. Another thing is that I don’t see a potential danger in my toy parts because they are not that sharp and also there is not ANY sharp parts that are in my toy, because basically everything in my toy is very curved and smooth made by the disk sander. I think that the antenna could me made a little big larger because I am scared that kids might eat them thinking it’s a strawberry on top of a green object, so I think that one thing that I would do to make this toy very safe is to make the antenna a suitable size so they cannot eat it. Another think that I can do is to make sure that the glue used to stick the antenna and the caterpillar together is very strong and kind of like super glue. So that then the kids cannot break it to eat it.

7. What techniques did you use to make your project? Did you use hand tools or power tools? Are the techniques you used to make your project the right ones or would you use a different range of manufacturing techniques next time? The techniques I used in the project were to use different things for different times. In this project I used both hand tools and power tools at different times. Like when I was cutting the wheel I used the hand tool (coping saw) and when I was making the wheels smoother then I used the machine tool (disk sander). So at different stages of creating the toy I had used different tools. The techniques that I used to make the project was the right one because when now when I look at it I think that it is done pretty well so I think that I used the right techniques. But I think that next time I should use different ranges of manufacturing techniques next time.

8. Who would like your project best? What age group and would boys or girls or both like your project and why? Is the project the right size/shape for the market you are designing for?I think that kids from age 1-5 would like my project better than any others because they are young and also I think that they would like it because for then toy entertain them for older people have no interest in them because they think that it’s a waste of time and no fun. The age group that would like my project would be the age group from 1-5 because they would think its more fun that a caterpillar is following them and to them they would feel like a leader, so that would definitely entertain them. From my perspective both boys and girls would like it because I think the colours would attract them into it and also they would like it because then they would be entertained because then they can play games with the caterpillar like the children have a very good imagination with that they could play an imagination game. So both boys and girls are fit for this game. The project Yes, I think that this project is the right shape and size for the market because the market really like to sell bright and cheerful things that might attract the children, so I think size wise and color wise its both a very good. So I think that it is definitely a very good thing for the market.

9. What do other people say about your design? Do they think it is good? Why do they say that? The feedback that I got about my design usually were that this shape is very complicated yet awesome or something like that is a very unique toy that is being design and also I think that it this toy is very good comparing to ____. So those were some of the feedbacks I got from people. The people that came with the feedback really liked the way I chose the colors and the shape so I think that they do like it. Some of my peers like the way I designed the shape and how the caterpillar is on a skateboard, so they thought that my project was very good and pretty unique. They said that because they thought it was very well done and also they thought that the color definitely attract the kids, because they got attracted by that too. So I think that they said that because they really thought it was that good.

10. Does it work? What changes would you make next time?Yes, my toy does work even though the paint on the wheel has made it little hard to roll but yes my project does work and is still effective. I think that my project does work because it able to roll and also the project is working it rolls and it moves when you either drag it or push it. Next time I would make the changes of the wheel to make it much more smoother so then the wheels work properly and run much more smoother. Another thing I would do is to make the skateboard different styles of put a design on it (if I have enough time.)

11. What is the projects effect on the Individual, Society and the Environment? The project can have an effect of not making the individual bored and also they would be more entertained by it. It would affect the society by making money from selling it and it would effect the environment by having to use the sustainable timbre.

12. Go back to your folder does your project answer your Design brief?Yes, my project does answer my Design Brief because I said that it would be suitable for children form 2-5 years old and it would be no bigger than 300mm*150mm*150mm. And that’s the way it turns out to be. The toy is attractive and also it’s appealing. So my project does respond to the Design Brief. After looking at the things I wrote at the beginning of this project I have now achieved what I had written because I have done everything that I had said I would do.

These are my views of my project and also these photographs show that my project is very attractive because the colors are very bright and appealing. Also this shows that my project moves from force and the force is applied by hands when pulling the string. This also shows that one each side has the same color and things applied to it.
