2. Know your partner Don’t bring in disks from outside Don’t open unknown email files Don’t accept files from strangers Don’t visit strange websites

When you let a virus into HU:
o You lose work time
o Other people waste time
o Computers are not available

Most websites that you use for work are safe (Yahoo, Google, NGOs)
Porn and ‘entertainment’ sites are dangerous
Never download or say “yes” to anything if you don’t know

Any prompt - click “Cancel” or “No”

Email and Chat
If you get anything from a person you don’t know – look out!
Any file comes to you – don’t accept unless you are very sure it is safe
Emails with odd things – ‘you won’, ‘we have money for..’, ‘warning..’ – Delete
Fully delete – press Shift + Delete, gone and not in recycle bin
File Transfer Check: o The person
o The file type
o The name
One Push Can Cost: + $ $
Flash Drives
Never bring an outside Flash drive to work
Never take an HU flash drive outside
If you put any flash drive in a computer scan it with anti virus
Other Memory
Anything can carry viruses
Camera flash memory (SD Card, XD, Compact Flash,
Memory Stick)
iPod, mp3 player
Telephone with 3G
Run Virus Scan

ALWAYS keep up to date
Run a check FIRST on any disk or flash drive before you access it
If you get a virus warning DELETE

A virus is usually a file.
It can be inside a file that you want to save, maybe a Word document (.doc).
If this is so you can clean or repair it.
If it can’t be cleaned and you want to get help, quarantine it. (“Move to Chest”, “Move to Virus Vault”
If you are not sure get help or DELETE

Go back to the person who had it
Clean all HU computers
Never share anything until you are sure you have cleaned it
