The Business Case

Minorities Represent:• 28% of the population• Only 15% to all businesses• 3% of gross receipts• 4% of total corporate purchases

The US Census Bureau reports by 2020, minority population will total 37.4%

The combined power of African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian-Americans and Native-Americans is expected to exceed 1.5 trillion by 2009.

• A minority business enterprise means a business that is 51% owned, operated and controlled by a minority group member.

• Minority group members are U.S. citizens who are African- American, Hispanic-American, Native-American, Asian-Pacific American and Asian-Indian American.

• Review for Completion with Documentation/Processing Fee

• Site Visit Scheduled/Conducted

• Certification Committee Reviews Recommends Approval of Denial of Application

• Presentation to Board of Directors for Final Disposition

• Applicant is Notified in Writing

• Certificate of Affiliation is Issued, if approved

• Re-certification Application (annually)

• Reciprocal (Out-of-State) Application
