CDC Client: Draper and Kramer, Inc. Design Architect: Holabird and Root
Date of Completion: 1929 Building Description: Condominium Scope of Services Condition evaluation of exterior facade, prior to and following year 2000 purchase by Developer planning conversion from office use to condominiums. Ongoing exterior observations of facade conditions and preparation of contract documents detailing necessary repair and restoration work. We acted as Project Architect for all phases of the exterior repair/restoration project, including repair design and engineering, construction documents, and ongoing construction observation during an approximate six year period of repair/restoration work.

1420 North Lake Shore Drive Located in: Chicago, Illinois

Date of Completion: 1929 Building Description: Residential Condominium Scope of Services Masonry Restoration and Window Replacement Provided professional exterior wall consulting services to 1420 North Lake Shore Drive (red brick building), including a three-year exterior masonry restoration project and a one-year window replacement project. We continue to provide 1420 with bi-annual observations of the exterior masonry and windows, as well as ongoing consultation on exterior architectural and structural matters.

E.M. Dirksen Federal Courthouse J.C. Kluczinski Office Building
Located in: Chicago, Illinois
CDC Client: Interactive Design Design Architect: Mies van der Rohe
Date of Original Completion: 1964 (Dirksen) 1975 (Kluczinski)
Building Description: Government Scope of Services CDC provided a detailed condition evaluation of exterior façade to determine necessary repair/restoration. CDC also consulted on the design and specification of the construction documents for the repairs.

Harbor Point Tower Located in: Chicago, Illinois

Date of Completion: 1974 Building Description: Condominium Scope of Services CDC has provided “hands on” condition evaluation of exterior curtainwall, lobby storefront and skylight dome over the swimming pool, as well as, limited water testing to verify performance levels. CDC has also provided ongoing oversight of curtainwall maintenance repairs and reglazing for 20+ years.

Lakepoint Tower Located in: Chicago, Illinois

Date of Completion: 1968 Building Description: Condominium Scope of Services CDC provided a “hands on” conditions survey of the condition of the curtainwall including glass glazing and sealant systems in 2009. CDC also provided professional consulting services related to a three year restoration project completed in 1998, consisting of replacement of all exterior sealant at the tower curtainwall system (floors 4-68), cleaning of all exterior aluminum at the curtainwall, and replication/replacement of all spandrel grilles within the curtainwall grid.

Date of Original Completion: 1972 Building Description: Commercial Scope of Services CDC and its predecessor firm have been providing exterior wall consulting services to 330 North Wabash since 1993, including a three-year exterior restoration project consisting of sealant replacement at the tower curtainwall system (floors 2-50/roof), cleaning of all exterior aluminum at the curtainwall system and limited repair of original construction damage at exterior metal surfaces. CDC has continued to provide 330 North Wabash’s Owners with ongoing exterior consultation, including “hands-on bi-annual evaluation of the condition of the curtainwall system including glass, glazing and sealant systems.
