ads/
Solo ads are a good way to get really targeted traffic
• Easy process to buy a solo mailing
• You can get a lot of sign ups fast
A Solo Ad is where you pay someone who has a
list to email their subscribers and
"recommend" your offer
Solo ads are really HOT right now
• Very targeted for the Internet Marketing niches
• They’re easy to do
Now It’s A Sellers Market
• Prices have skyrocketed
• Overall quality of lists is lower
There are solo ad vendors with great mailing lists,
but it's getting more expensive
They actually work better when you send people to
a squeeze page
Solo ad sellers usually PREFER it as long as you
provide some type of value
Usually solo sellers GUARANTEE a certain
number of visitors(clicks) to your website
You can monetize the list building process by
putting in a One Time Offer/Upsell right after
the opt-in
But there are a few things to keep in mind
and even some things to watch out for!
You'll notice almost everyone "Guarantees"
clicks...
That is, Clicks through to the link
you give them in your email "swipe copy"...
Your swipe copy refers to the email you give the
solo ad vendor to send to their list
Your solo ad swipe should be pretty short and to the
point• Not trying to sell the product
• Just trying to get them to click through the link
Hopefully, they'll use what you give them
But lots of times solo ad vendors won't use your
swipe at all...
So what happens is...
Instead of sending out YOUR swipe, they send
out a very GENERIC swipe like:
"Hey, Here is a fantastic resource for you, Click
The Link Below"
And your link gets added into some link rotator
software with a bunch of other marketer's links so they can sell more solo
ads all at once
They send you traffic, but now it's very untargeted...
They may even send traffic from sources other than their own lists like
safelists and traffic exchanges
(JUNK Traffic!!)
Remember, they guarantee clicks, not
conversions
Sometimes they'll send you a bunch of Exit Pop
traffic...
Which is TOTALLY Untargeted!
Yes, they are into Internet Marketing in
general so your offer might still
interest them…
BUT they weren't looking for to solve that specific problem at the time they
saw your offer
When people read your swipe email and click
through…
You know they’re interested in solving that
specific problem(Most of the time)
Sometimes they don't use your swipe so they can jam your link in with three or four other marketers all
together in one email…
So they're selling many solo ads at once, by only
sending ONE email to their list (IF they even send it to
their list)
Even worse, your clicks could come from
subscribers that have just opted in to someone else’s
squeeze page…
And are being offered extra "bonuses" on a thank you page or in a follow up
email message
And you end up being "bonus link #3" out of the
four "bonus" links on someone's Thank You
Page!
Yikes!
The result is you get completely untargeted
people clicking through a "blind" link that just says
"bonus #3" (or something similar)
They don't even have ANY clue as to what your offer is until they click through
and see it
And those count as the clicks that you bought
from the solo ad seller!!
They might even opt-in because your offer looks "interesting" or whatever
But they weren't specifically looking for
what you're giving away…
They just happened across it and said, "ok" because it doesn't cost them anything
And this traffic ALWAYS converts below average...
Also, they may have already had to optin to AT LEAST one squeeze page
offer before they even get to yours!
Believe it or not, it's all considered to be NORMAL,
Standard Operating Procedure for solo ad
sellers
Which is kind of messed up if you ask me, but that's
the way it works out there…
Depeneding on who you go to for a solo ad mailing.
Everyone who sells solo mailings to their list is
different,
And there are lots of great solo sellers out there
So here's what you CAN do to protect
yourself:
So here's what you CAN do to protect
yourself:1. Ask what lists they send
your ad to and go subscribe to it
So here's what you CAN do to protect
yourself:1. Ask what lists they send
your ad to and go subscribe to it
2. Ask them if they’ll use the "email swipe" you provide, and how much theychange it.
If the person you are buying the solo ad from
does not want to give you this information, I'd say it's best to move on and don't
buy from them.
Also, one of the most important things to ask is
if they send the solo out to their BUYER list as well as
their propect list.
There are many honest and reliable vendors who want
to maintain a solid reputation.
Reputation is very important in the solo ad
selling world.
That word of mouth credibility is all they have
And it's the best kind of credibility when lots of
successful marketers say your solo ads rock…
