Our film pitch
Natasha Dingwall& Megan Bowdler
Psychological thriller
o We have chosen to concentrate on the sub genre: psychological thriller.
o We have an interest in psychological thrillers, and enjoy the psychological element of the genre.
o Thrillers are set in locations that reflect real life, therefore they are easy to access.
o The target audience for our film is teenagers/young adults, we have chosen psychological thrillers as this genre is popular among this age group.
Film Idea
o The overall narrative for our film is a young girl who has been brutally murdered in a field located close to her home.
o The audience and stock characters are unaware of the antagonist at first.
o Throughout the film, the protagonist tries to discover who has killed the young girl.
o Meanwhile the girl’s spirit gives psychological clues using conventional thriller props e.g. rocking chair, dolls and creaking floorboards/doors.
o Despite the obstacles faced, the protagonist discovers the shocking controversial antagonist at the end of the film.
Our film opening
o The beginning 2 minutes of our film will consist of:
o An establishing shot of an empty, isolated field, to give an immediate insight into the location that our film is based in.
o This is followed by various shots of a young girl’s dead body in the field.
o The girl is then shown in spirit form which establishes the conventional psychological thriller genre.
o There is no indication of the murderer or reasoning behind the killing within the opening.
