When I was fifty, and I am now sixty-three, I was almost totally bald, and would struggle each day vainly to comb my hair. My hair was so thin and fine that I could not even wear a hat as the wispy hair would flatten by wearing it and I’d look terrible. Shaved heads were not in. Only cancer patients had them. I shaved my head. It changed my life. Vanities diminished, I loved not shampooing and combing my hair, and I was actually noticed. I don’t look great with a shaved head. I’m only five ft. seven, and weigh 122 lbs. As a long distance ocean swimmer I am “buff”, but old and grizzled, gnarly my wife says, from years of sun and beach. I began first wearing Kongol hats, in all colors, and at a tilt. Debonair, but more for fun and finally my head was warm. Soon I began wearing other hats, from fedoras to fine wool classic hats from Italy, and later Panama Hats. Panama hats are made in one village in Ecuador, where I visit often, and I saw the women artisans climb the huge saw palmetto plants and sometimes take several weeks to weave a truly fine hat. Soon I was a connoisseur of Panamas, and they became my trademark, worn at a tilt , with a long grey beard, and a grizzly suntan. I began collecting the most beautiful of art and hats. I look great in a Panama Fedora and am complimented wherever I go. A new person emerged and suddenly I had a trademark look. My identity had been newly created. It got me thinking what fun it would be to be no one, and to create a person and make the world believe you were so. Could I create an act of being someone else? Five years later I decided I was going to study for an entire year and become an expert at something I had never done before, and as I own my own business consulting firm, www.theevansgroupllc.com I went on sabbatical and studied OEX (S&P100) option trading and the stock market twelve hours a day, seven days a week.

A year later I was an expert, had created a book titled:

The Manual for S&P 100 Index Option Investing

Mathematical and Psychological Trading Techniques for Reading Stock Market Momentum This book has been re-written and soon to be published as an e-book, available on Amazon Kindle and Apple I Books Years later Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book, The Outliers, which had statistical evidence that it took a professional ten thousand hours (10,000) to become expert in their field. By coincidence I had studied over four thousand hours (4000) in that year, and my ongoing hands on study has continued, so that I have well become a professional. My book began a business, an email stock/option trading email training course subscription service that I began advertising and selling my book for $249, the price of a monthly subscription. This was long before e-books. www.oexoptions.com took off and did very well. We won the prestigious Stocks and Commodities Magazine READERS CHOICE award as one of the top ten-stock/option advisory services from 2008 through 2013, six straight years, before they discontinued that award category. How proud I was. David beating Goliath, as our competitors were the big companies, and famous names. But I played a game. When I began www.oexoptions.com I wanted full anonymity, so that my consulting business was not considered “selling a service” and because I believe we can create our own characters, and that many of us do it every day. I wanted to experiment with “being someone else”. So I became Trader Floyd. We gave only a phone number and address of our Webmaster and we never identified any part of what else I did, but the biography of my person was authentic and true. I began as a created person, Floyd E. Everyone wrote me, our service grew immensely, we got rave reviews and the book, and Floyd wrote all of the service.

Amazing. None every asked more, or for more biography or detail and many bought $10,000 and $12,000 private educational services, all by trust and my performance and from a man that did not exist. And had learned to wear hats. With style and pride, and not a concern in the world what people thought, nor when running OEX and winning awards not being able to share our accolades and awards with others, so that I can “brag” about me. Wearing hats, with a false name, I learned humility. I am still Floyd to many, but have “come out of the closet” as we publish a new version of my book on Amazon and IBook, and as we rebuild our website and begin to offer new services. Now I can share. My name is Chip Evans. I live in Florida. My company The Evans Group LLC, www.theevansgroupllc.com And I wear hats, and created Floyd to first teach and trade.
