About: This humble Telengu speaking farmer began his career when he was 18 in the transport business. In 1992, the Govt. of Andra Pradesh issued a G.O. regarding the establishment of diaries in the private sector. Mr. Naidu seized the opportunity and along with two key partners started Tirumala Milk Products. 13 years after its establishment in 1998, and with an installed processing capacity of 1.5Mn liters a day, this 800 Crore company has established its dominance over the diary market in South India.

The Impact: 20,000 diary farmers that have grown along with Tirumala

Name: Kaushalendra KumarCompany: KNIDS Green Private Ltd.

About: At 5 feet 4” this young and dynamic entrepreneur has been called ‘The Green Revolutionary’ of Bihar, by the media, many a time. Returning to his childhood roots in Bihar, Kaushalendra let go of lucrative opportunities post his MBA from IIMA, to join multinational corporations and opted to pursue his lifelong dream of contributing to the rural development of Bihar by making it the ‘Vegetable Capital of India’. He founded a farmers’ co-operative type initiative christened as Samriddhi (prosperity), being managed through his for profit organization, KNIDS Green Private Limited, which sells vegetables in temperature controlled pushcarts on the streets of Patna, the capital of Bihar. Samriddhi aims to propagate organic farming and use its marketing expertise to reach out to the markets.

The Impact: KNIDS has the ability to directly impact 3000 Vegetable Growers and 500 vendors

Name: Ashwin NaikCompany: Vaatsalya Rural Chain of Hospitals

About: Ashwin is increasingly become the new Indian poster boy social entrepreneurship. His story is both media worthy and inspirational. Along with his partner Veerendra Hiremath, he started Vaatsalya – which till 2010 was a network of 10 hospitals, each with about 60-70 beds, eight of which are in Karnataka. Vaatsalya was born out of Ashwin and Verendra’s personal experiences - both come from smaller towns and have first hand experience of the lack of quality medical care.Post 2010 Vaatsalya has grown and most importantly it is looking to diversify to other states. A great example to cynics, Vaatsalya has proven that social enterprises can be built to scale.

About: Inspired by his Guru, Dr. Sunil Handa – IIMA professor and founder of Eklavya Education, Sharat along with his partner Praveen Y decided to start a supplementary education facility called Butterfly Fields. Aimed at infusing creativity into the minds of young students and bringing back the fun of learning by making learning “easy, enriching, and enjoyable’, this organizations has grown leaps and bounds. Today, Butterfly field Working with 7 mainstream schools (some of them with nation-wide branches) as a form of enrichment program. Its tools and methodology provide children with opportunities for hands-on learning, cooperative learning, social interaction, and real-life problem solving.
