Foreword
First, I would like to say this book is not the truth.
Wait, what?
Weird way to start a book, right?
Yes. The reason why I wanted to get that out there is because I’m not claiming to know
some truth that anyone else can’t see, I am merely expressing a paradigm, a lens I have chosen
to interpret the world through.
If you do not, that’s fine by me. Please don’t bother telling me I’m wrong though, I don’t
care so much about being right or wrong. I care much more about how the beliefs I hold cause
me to act and what those actions create in the world.
I’d like to thank my family, both biological, spiritual and professional. If at any point you
have given me gifts, or I have had the pleasure to give you gifts, I thank you profoundly and look
forward to our continued success. If we have not worked together yet, I hope you get value from
this book and I thank you for working with me to change the world.
Thank you for downloading this!

What is Sales? 7
Where did sales come from? Why does it exist? How does one do it well?
Leadership 15What makes a leader, a leader. What makes a leader a great leader.
The Greatest Asset 18This is what will make or break your success in life.
The Greatest Tool 27This is the most important thing in the world.

IntroductionI studied philosophy at Florida State University. I am by no means claiming to be a guru,
or to have access to some special revelations. All I have are ideas, ideas that I have thought
about for a while and ideas that I believe can change the world.
An idea is just a dream, unless someone is enrolled. So my intention with this Ebook is
to enroll you in a vision of a world where people live and interact in a radically new way.
A little about me first, I grew up in Canada and I’m also a salesman. That’s right. I sell
stuff for a living and I’m damn proud of it. My vision for the future is to create peace, love, trust,
innovation in the world through education. Let’s move on though, because you didn’t get this
book to hear my story.
Now you might not care what I have to say, you can dismiss this all as a sales pitch if you
like, but I promise I am not going to try to market anything to you in this ebook. This is a
philosophical work and a manifesto of sorts. The only call to action you will find in here is to live
your life in a different way, and to approach the world with a fresh paradigm. What I’m simply
going to do is explain my paradigm of what sales is, what leadership is and what I believe is the
most important asset anyone can acquire in their life.
Another important note, you will recognize many of the ideas in here from other books,
movies, videos, stories, blogs etc. I will not be citing and referencing where each idea came
from, since most of these ideas have been around for a long time and expressed in many
different ways. I would much prefer you to
judge the ideas based solely on my words,
rather than appeals to authority.
Oh also, I’m gonna use the
cheesiest stock photos I can
find. Enjoy!

Definitions
Written words are extremely difficult to communicate through since differences in
perception can vary so greatly and all words are just symbols that can mean two entirely
different things to two different people.
Also, I’m a philosopher, so I must define some terms.
Fact The actual events that happened, or the actual situation. Hard to communicate. Interpretation The story made up a human mind to explain why a fact is. Stories Something we made up, or were told by someone else. They determine our beliefs. Leashes Stories, or interpretations that hold us back from pursuing our purpose. Vision The possible world you would like to see as reality.

What is sales? Sales is a word that has a dirty connotation. Just saying I am a salesman probably made
some of you taste bile.
You thought back to that time in the mall when the skin cream salesperson wouldn’t stop
following you, even waiting outside the bathroom for you. Or perhaps seven different
telemarketers called during dinner one night and that is automatically what you think of when you
hear the word salesman.
Let’s see what the wise philosopher Google has to say!
Ouch!
Liars, scum, annoying, not allowed.
Is this the fact about what salespeople are, or interpretation?
Let’s really dive into what sales is. Sales is really simple, it is just explaining the value and
benefits of a solution to a person with a need. A good salesman will communicate that in
language the prospect feels comfortable with. That’s it.
Convincing, arguing, deceiving, misleading or otherwise acting unethically is not sales. Some of those things are not just unethical but straight up fraud. Let’s simplify it even more
though, to the very basics. I invite you to journey back in time to the beginning of human
interactions, a time before telemarketers and advertisements, before Wal Mart and McDonalds,
when humans had to survive in tribes, hunting and gathering.
7
Tribal LifeWhen humans were wandering the earth in tribes, living in caves and forests, eating
plants, animals and whatever else they could find they lived a fairly communistic, sharingbased
life. This was fine for small groups and dividing resources within a tribe. When tribes ran into
each other there were a few options.
First, the tribes could avoid each other, going in separate directions and not coming in contact altogether. Both tribes would not gain or lose anything, just continue doing what they
were doing. This was basically the flee response from both tribes.
Second, the tribes could fight. If one tribe attacked the other tribe, and killed them, they could then rape the women, steal the food and whatever other supplies were appealing. This
bloody mess was either a winlose scenario or more often a loselose scenario.
Finally, the tribes could trade. Social curiosity led one tribe to take an interest in another tribe, and if one tribe had something that the other tribe wanted, they could trade.
Trade is foundation of organized interaction. Trade was limited though, both parties had
to have something the other wanted, or no deal would be reached.
8
MoneyMoney became a proxy to grease the wheels of trade and serve as a placeholder for
value. This changed everything again.
The ability for tribes to peacefully interact changed everything about the way people could
survive. For the first time, large groups of humans were able to support each other and work
together to create new possibilities.
With the fantastic new innovations, new frontiers opened up and the creations of mankind
blossomed. When a simpler way of doing something was discovered, it was shared with the rest
of the group and everybody benefited, the innovators always received the most value in return for
their inventions, because nothing is as valuable as a new idea implemented effectively.
Innovators were not always able to tell everyone about their new ideas though, so rather
than simply relying on wordofmouth they would align incentives with others and allow them to
promote the idea, product, service or method in return for compensation. Please join me in
welcoming sales to the world of human interaction.
Do you see that Sales came about as a way to make the lives of
the innovator, and the consumer better?
9
MarketsAs with everything, it comes down to the intentions, where the heart is. If an innovator
wanted to just make a quick profit, chances are he would come up with something that is not
that valuable to society and try to promote it for more than he believed it was worth. This might
work short term, but he would not be creating actual value in the world so his innovation would
soon be seen for what it was, a fraud.
Same with salespeople. If the intentions of a salesperson are to make money selling
subpar products for a huge profit margin, they may get away with it for a while, but the world will
soon call them on their lack of real value and they would be seen for what they are, frauds.
The iron law of the market is if noone wants a product or
service, it will fail.
Even with great marketing and sales.
You might ask why sales is necessary at all? Why can’t the value
creator and the value consumer just connect?
10
The answer is that people often get comfortable with the inconveniences in their lives,
and stop looking for ways to get rid of those inconveniences. The leash themselves and stop
progressing. Humans have a reaction to discomfort that starts with resistance and ends with
endorsement.
When something we don’t like happens, at first we resist. We push back, we try to
escape, we struggle desperately to find a way out. Think of a small child being dragged to school
by his mom. You know when kids just sit down and start crying? That’s classic resistance.
When we realize we don’t have a choice, we accept the discomfort. We allow it to
become a part of us. We say things like “Oh that’ll never change.” or “There’s no other way.” or
“That’s just the way I am.”
Finally, we endorse it. We sublimate and translate lazy to relaxed. Greedy to strategic.
Angry becomes opinionated. You get the picture.
Most of the time this is because we don’t see any alternative. There are no other
possibilities present. We only know what we’ve been exposed to.
It is the job of the salesman to bring up that inconvenience and show how it can be
overcome through the valuable product or service the innovator created.
The first part of sales is discovering the leashes a prospect has made that hold
him or her back from something they want or need.
The second part is demonstrating how the product they are promoting can solve
that problem.
The last part is giving support to the prospect so they CAN use the product to
unleash themselves and get what they want/need.
Marketers are brilliant at doing just this.
11
They influence one of the five core human drives to drive customers to a product.
The five core drives are the drives to… Acquire: Desire to collect material and immaterial things, like a car.Bond: Desire to be loved and feel valued in our relationships with others.Learn: Desire to satisfy our curiosity.Defend: Desire to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our property.Feel: Desire for many emotional experiences, such as pleasure or excitement.
The most abused drives are the drive to acquire and the drive to feel.
How many products are just cheap attempts to sell you on the idea that you need more stuff. Or the idea that you need to feel happy, instead of finding purpose in your life.
So I’ll say it once more, the ethical aspect of sales comes down to the intention of the
salesperson.
Is the goal to actually provide solutions to people’s needs?
Or is it to make a quick buck off of pushing the hot buttons?
What does your answer to the above questions say about you as a
person?
12
Principles of Effective Solutions
So this brings us to some principles of
effective selling, or as you can call it,
providing solutions. These six principles
are in many books, audio tapes and
videos. The exact presentation here is
from one of the companies I work with, I
think you’ll know which one.
Attitude is Everything Your attitude is the lens through which you view the world. With a
negative attitude, everything seems to be against you and the world seems to be a very harsh
place. Emotions are infectious and selling is a transference of emotion. With the right attitude life
becomes a game of helping others, instead of a game of helping yourself.
Control the Controllables and let go of the rest. You can’t control other people. You can influence them, and effective salespeople learn to influence others, but understand that they
cannot control others. People have a tendency to have a blame list. “The economy is bad so I
can’t get a job… The market is saturated so I can’t sell my product… The weather was bad so I
didn’t go to work.” Life is about 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.
Improve what you can and watch the rest fall into place.
Everything is Earned No one is going to hand you success. you have to earn it, work for it and have the right ideas. With the right ideas, attitude and work ethic the world makes way. Step
into responsibility and realize that your success or failure in life rests solely on your shoulders.
Do the Right Thing You don’t have to cheat, lie, cut corners or steal to succeed. You must do the opposite! Be honest, authentic, vulnerable and open. You can be true to yourself and your
values and make it in the world.
13
Giving is Getting If you give a valuable service, you get income in return. When you truly see
powerful results in someone else’s life, you receive growth and transformation. Giving of your
possessions is hardly giving. It is when you give of yourself, your time and attention that you truly
give.
The Future Matters Living in the present is important. Not being worried about the future or past is crucial to being able to genuinely connect with anyone. The future DOES matter though.
Ask yourself, is what I’m selling improving the futures of my prospects or destroying them?
If you sell crack cocaine, it’s pretty obvious that it’s destroying it. If you sell education, it’s pretty
obvious your products are improving the future of your prospects.
What you will one day be, you are now becoming. Who you choose to be determines what you do and that determines results. There are two
interpretations of the same information. You can choose where to stand when it comes to
interactions with people and sales.
The choice is between a story where you have to wait for something to come to you, or where
you can choose to create it. The amazing thing is you have the power to decide. Every moment
you choose who you are being.
You choose how you treat people. You choose who you are.
14
Leadership
Leadership is one of those words that is thrown around so much its meaning has become almost lost in the void.
What is leadership? Really?
Let us once again consult the wise philosopher Google.
Leadership is an art. Perhaps, everything is an art.
Leadership is action not position. I like that one best. I think it’s incomplete though.
Leadership is action, based on commitment to a vision. Leaders look out and see something the rest of the world says is impossible and then commit
themselves to being the person they need to be in order to make that vision a reality. This can be
for the greatness of humanity, or the destruction of millions of lives. Gandhi and Hitler are two
great examples of leaders.
15
Let’s start with Hitler...Hitler followed in the footsteps of other leaders from the past, he believed that ultimate authority
resided in him and that this authority was from a divine source. This style of thinking leads to a
powerful commitment to a vision. Many other leaders share this same belief, that they were put
on this earth for a mission. Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, Martin Luther King, Joseph Smith all
believed they were here on a divine mission from God, all created powerful movements.
Were they actually? Who knows. What we do know is they all changed the world in some way. Their belief that they
were here for a divine purpose caused them to be the type of person who convinced others of
that belief. Their followers then took massive action based around that vision.
See how that works?Hitler, unfortunately, believed he was here from God wholeheartedly.
Since he was living that vision, he became the type of person who made it become a reality.
Even though his vision was one of pain and suffering for humanity, he was able to drive a whole
nation to madness because his conviction was so great that enough people followed to reach
the tipping point.
Now let’s look at the opposite end of the spectrum, Gandhi. Gandhi had a vision to nonviolently
get the British to leave India.
Many told him this was impossible. They laughed at him, then they ignored him and then they
joined him. Through committing himself to that vision he became very gentle, peaceful, humble
and genuine. One by one, he persuaded the people of India to join him, until the tipping point was
reached and the world changed.
What did they have in common? A HUGE Vision! Keep reading to see what is possible with a HUGE vision.
16
Leverage Leadership is leveraging other people’s time and effort to achieve your vision in the world.
A true leader leads by example so that others have an easy role model to follow.
This means it must be a vision that others can
actually stand behind and support, if your vision is
just to have a lot of money, or travel the world, or
have a nice body then chances are not a lot of
people will get behind you and build the support you
need to actually change the world.
For effective leverage, motivation is not enough.
There also must be effective management in
place.
I’ve heard it said that a leader should lead from the right brain, manage from the left. In
other words, if you just go and recruit a whole bunch of people into your vision, tell them
wonderful things are coming their way, describe in detail the success they will have working with
you, you better back it up.
Does all of the responsibility fall on the leader?
You choose. If a leader chooses to stand responsible for the success of everyone he/she
works with then instead of blaming others, the question becomes how can we as a team fix
these problems?
The question becomes “How can I be the type of leader who creates a good team
atmosphere?” Instead of saying “If I had a good team atmosphere, then I could be a good
leader.” That goes back to the havedobe paradigm that is a leash on success and growth.
So to effectively leverage other’s time to create a vision, the vision
must be large and the leader must be authentic.
17
The Most Valuable AssetThis brings me to the final section of this book. What I believe the most valuable asset
any business, website, or person can have.
As you might have guessed, the answer is... Houses!
Great rental income. Add some sweat equity and it’ll pay off big time with nice passive income.
Just kidding. It’s a network. It’s people. Friendships with purpose.
Networks provide two things. Support and opportunity.
OpportunityThe first major benefit of a solid network is the opportunity it provides. Most jobs come
from weak ties. The brother in law who works as a manager at the place you’re applying is
probably going to benefit you a lot more than a 4.0 your last two semesters of college.
The stranger who you helped to clean up their groceries when they dropped them may
provide you just the opportunity you are looking for. The homeless man you invested a moment
in may stop you from being mugged. Who knows? Be open to new possibilities.
What you can choose to believe is that opportunity will come, it will come on one condition.
That you provide it.
In order to get, you must give. Noone wants to be friends with a taker. Noone wants to be a colleague with someone
who always asks for favors and never offers in return.
On the flip side, everyone wants to be friends with an unconditional giver. Everyone
wants to work with someone who has their back no matter what. People are attracted to those
who have the confidence to seize opportunity and the confidence to share it unconditionally.
18
Now just providing opportunity is not enough. When someone decides to take advantage
of the opportunity you offer them, you must be ready to provide support.
Support Providing support means caring a lot and acting on that care. No one cares how much
you know, until they know how much you care. No matter how tough you are, chances are, you
can’t make it through life alone. The entirely independent paradigm is an immature paradigm
based on greed.
Saying “I don’t need anyone else” is basically saying “I am selfish with myself. I don’t want
to give of my time or resources to anyone, because they are mine. Other people just want to
steal what is mine.”
Greed grows from fear. It’s saying “I am afraid that if I trust people they will take advantage of me.”
If you knew 100% that the time and energy you invested in a new
friendship, or giving compassion to a hurt person would come back
to you, would you do it then? What about if the finances you gave
would come back multiplied?
If the answer is no to the above questions, then you probably don’t understand the questions.
Interpreting the world in this way also allows one to be much gentler and less judgmental
when they see someone acting greedy. Understanding that hate, greed, anger all stem from fear
gives a human element to very inhuman actions. You can then reach out to afraid people with
kindness and support. They will respect you for it and you will watch the anger or greed melt away as you continue to give unconditionally.
19
Having a network also means asking for support. Whether it is financial, emotional,
social, professional or personal it doesn’t matter. Having a network that is willing to do whatever
it takes to support you, because they are aligned with your vision is invaluable!
So where can I find one of these Networks? The answer is, you can buy one.
Now, Jon, I’ve been with you so far, I mean a lot of this stuff is so simple it’s almost
insulting, but what the heck do you mean I can buy a network? How can I buy people’s respect,
trust and support?
You can’t buy it with money. You buy it with social capital. See life is created moment by moment. Each moment you spend interacting with another person is either a chance
to build or destroy social capital, also known as moments of trust.
If I lie to you and you find out, I destroy social capital.
If I give you a sincere compliment, and you feel it is sincere, I build social capital.
If I get angry with you, I destroy social capital.
If I give you a gift, I build social capital.
Get it? So I want you to really think about this… next time your frustrated or about to treat someone
negatively, ask yourself “What am I creating? Is this building or destroying social
capital?” This is so important to realize this as soon as possible, because, like most assets,
networks compound over time. If I have a lot of trust built up with Joe, then Joe will tell Susie that
I am a very good person and I will have some social capital already built with Susie when I meet
her.
It also compounds the other way. If I screw Joe in a business deal, then Joe tells Susie
about it, I will be entering into the frame with Susie with a negative social capital balance.
Your reputation precedes you. The words others attach to your name
are all the world will know you as. What are you creating?
20
Transmuting Social Capital
Now this part is where you may feel some resistance. Most of this Ebook so far has been pretty general personal development philosophies seen through my unique lens.
I want to ask you a question, does having a job matter?
Let’s define what a job is.
My definition of job is selling your time for an amount that someone else decides.
Now this amount you get paid must be less than the value you create for the company, or the costs of hiring you would be greater than the benefits.
Make sense?
Let us once again consult Google.
Hiring, hard to find, for slaves, stupid, scarce, boring.
Yikes. Jobs are necessary though, right?
Is that the fact or is that a story?
21
Think about this. How many people do you know who say something along the lines of “If I had a job then I would work and I would be productive”?
Where is the power in that?
It’s given away.
I think often that jobs are leashes. They hold us back. The security is nice, having a steady
paycheck that comes in monthly or biweekly, but is that really secure?
Your job could end at any time.
If corporate decides it’s time to do some layoffs, you could be joining the
ranks of the unemployed.
How long would your savings last?
What would it be like if they ran out and you didn’t have another job yet? For millions of Americans since 2008 this nightmare has become a reality. Let’s
look at some facts.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 23,450,000 Americans were unemployed in February.
And that’s not even counting those who have given up on finding
work. Those who accepted the story that they are worthless to society.
According to Forbes, counting those who have given up, the number
is closer to 50,000,000. That’s a lot.
22
What does the job paradigm create? Waiting on the uncontrollable forces of supply and demand to align in your favor.
Waiting on a raise at the job you currently have.
Waiting to be given an opportunity rather than earning it.
Waiting on the right opportunity.
Waiting on…
Waiting on what?
Please, stop waiting! Take action! Do something!
Market yourself, sell your ideas, your vision, your creation.
Do it now!
On the next page I will tell you about a simple way to do that.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to try to sell to you, my vision is far too precious
to risk for a chance at a small profit.
23
Network Marketing
It’s not bullshit, or a pyramid scheme. Network marketing is a simple concept.
Instead of a company paying for tons of advertising, they give customers the chance to resell
the product and earn profit for doing so.
What are the facts of Network Marketing? In 1992 over 5 Million Americans were involved in the $13 billion Network Marketing Industry
In 1996 that number had risen to 32 Million Americans and over $40 billion.
Unsustainable growth?
In 2013 there were over 90 million independent distributors with over $140
billion in sales. Does that sound like a growing industry or what?
Now you must be very careful which products you choose to promote. Many Network marketing companies require a buyin cost, so research first about the
products. Remember the Iron Law of the Market. A bad product will fail. No matter how good the compensation plan seems, how nice the person is and how much another affiliate tells you
you can make. Network marketing has a bad reputation because a lot of unethical companies go
about providing a lot of opportunity with little or no support.
24
Looking at the average earnings of most independent distributors, the sad thing is most
don’t make much, or even lose money. Due to their own failure, or the failure of their leaders to
support them after they join, most people who try network marketing make little or no money.
So why get involved? With the right product, the right leadership and the right attitude network marketing can
change the way you look at the world. Find a product you believe in, a company you can trust
and a mentor who you respect. With that formula and some hard work you are almost
guaranteed to succeed.
Now I promised I wouldn’t try to sell to you, and it’s hard not to because I’m very excited
about the companies I am working with and the products I am selling. Just to give you a little
teaser, I work with three companies.
The oldest direct sales company in the nation. (Been around since 1855)
A marketing training company that has grown to over $100 million in sales since 2009.
A new financial software company that redefines financial planning.
I have the power to transform lives and the world through approaching these opportunities in the right manner.
How am I going to do this?
Check out the next page.
I explain my simple three step system to help you succeed.
25
3 Steps To The Greatest Secret Success ToolMy solution is to develop my network through helping others, giving unconditionally
with no expectation of anything in return. Providing unconditional support with opportunities I believe in. The most important asset I have is people. I am committed to creating value for thousands of people, whether they work with any of my companies or not, by inviting them to explore new possibilities and following this simple three step system.
1. Develop VisionFigure out exactly what you want. Define it in detail.
Taking a systematic approach to life including Financial, Mental, Social, Spiritual/Philosophical, Physical, Academic, Family and Relationships.I’m not perfect in any of those areas, but the best way to help myself is to help others.
We will grow together!
2. Discover Leashes Find the things that are holding you back from growth. Figure out how to cut those leashes and be free to grow. Unearth the resistance and fear tethered to broken stories or old paradigms that keeps us crippled and unable to move forward.
3. Commit To Action Figure out an action plan to Unleash the power inside you
and create a life worth dying for. The fact is, you’re going to die for the life you live. I want to make sure it’s not a life you regret. I want to do as much as possible to support you in achieving your goals, creating beauty, joy, honesty and trust in the world.
I am also committed to action. I will not ask you to do anything I am not willing to do myself. That’s what true leadership is.
That is a life I will die for. This is a life I will live for! The next page unveils what I believe to be the greatest tool possible for success in this world.
26
LoveNo other word has so many positive associations as love.
The largest vision possible is a world filled with Love. This is not a religion, or a cult. It’s simpler than that. What is love?
Look what the mighty Google has to say!
Love is patient, kind, all you need, an open door. Love is a way of being. It’s a way of interacting with the world that involves being:
Honest Authentic Kind Open Giving
Peaceful Caring Trusting StrongRespectful Compassionate Trustworthy Vulnerable
Passionate Sweet Joyful Committed Giving
