Conference  organizers  want  to  get  more  value  from  their  speaker  investment,  especially  when  it  comes  to  leveraging  content  marke2ng  and  maximizing  sponsors’  return  on  investment.  

•    Two-­‐fi(hs  ask  speakers  to  write  an  ar3cle  or  be  interviewed;  par3cipate  in  a  pre-­‐mee3ng  online  conversa3on  via  LinkedIn,  Twi?er  or            another  avenue;  or  record  a  promo3onal  video.      

•    About  a  quarter  ask  their  speakers  to  write  a  post  for  their  organiza3on’s  or  mee3ng’s  blog,  or  present  or  facilitate  a            pre-­‐  or  post-­‐mee3ng  Webinar.    

Organiza2ons  use  professional  speakers  more  and  spend  more.  Professional  speaker  budgets  between  $5,000  and  $20,000  were  most  common,  reported  by  23.2  percent  of  respondents,  with  the  $30,001-­‐to-­‐$50,000  and  more-­‐than-­‐$100,000  op2ons  tying  for  a  close  second,  with  20.4  percent  each.    

Organiza2ons  that  want  to  use  their  educa2on  to  differen2ate  themselves,  need  a  senior  educa2on  professional  on  the  execu2ve  team.  Most  organiza2ons  list  educa2on  as  their  primary  mission,  but  don’t  have  a  top-­‐ranking  person  involved  with  their  high-­‐level  educa2on  strategy.    

Hiring  decisions  are  shiMing  from  the  C-­‐suite  to  the  educa2on  department.    

What’s  in  a  name?  Maybe  not  that  much.  28.3  percent  of  respondents  believe  a  “big  name”  speaker  is  very  or  extremely  important  for  aRrac2ng  registrants.      

While  moving  to  mobile  and  online  evalua2ons  appeals  to  mee2ng  planners  for  beRer  and  more  2mely  analy2cs,  the  old  tac2c  of  puSng  a  piece  of  paper  on  each  chair  or  in  the  aRendee  packet  s2ll  tends  to  result  in  beRer  comple2on  rates.  To  reverse  this  trend,  speakers  should  be  coached  to  bake  in  2me  for  aRendees  to  complete  the  evalua2on  during  the  last  five  minutes  of  the  session      

More  and  more  organiza2ons  will  embrace  a  strategy  of  content  capture  with  scheduled  replays,  with  slower  growth  in  live  streaming.      

Sponsorship  is  on  the  rise.  Over  27  percent  of  organiza2ons  use  sponsorship  more  than  over  the  past  two  years.  Exhibitors  want  increasingly  to  be  associated  with  thought  leadership.    

Mul2ple-­‐speaker  sessions  are  popular,  in  a  panel  or  combined  mini-­‐sessions  approach.
