“No plan ever survives the

first encounter with the

enemy”.

Project Constraints

A project has to deliver on time,

to a high level of quality within

some defined cost, and to some

agreed scope.

It can be very difficult for a

project manager to have these

in balance. It is challenging to

say the least.

Poor Planning

Poor project planning /

estimation is often due to a lack

of time or experience on behalf

of the project manager.

IssuesThe third enemy is issues.

These would include any

problems that occur on the

project.

RisksFourth are the risks that might

occur.

These distract us as we need to

keep an eye on them, and some

of these we need to mitigate

against.

Change Requests

 And the fifth enemy that

conspires to make the initial

plan, the right plan, are the

inevitable set of change

requests, formal or informal, that

arise on projects.
